Phantom Spear — Hand-Forged Fantasy Tactical Spear with Skeletonized Blade
The Everest Forge Phantom Spear is a hand-forged fantasy tactical spear with a broad, bright, skeletonized blade. The wide double-edged head swells out and tapers to a long thrusting point, with twin slots and pierced holes cut clean through the centre — openings that drop weight and give the spear its striking, see-through silhouette. It rides on a slim, pinned rosewood handle capped with a forged steel pommel, and comes complete with a hand-stitched leather scabbard. Forged from 5160 high-carbon spring steel reclaimed from truck springs, water-tempered, and full-tang from point to pommel, it is real, functional steel — not a factory casting.
That last point is the whole idea. The mass-market versions of this style of broad fantasy spear are cast from stainless steel and built to look the part on a shelf. The Phantom Spear is hand-forged to handle and last: a genuine working spear with the bright, aggressive looks of a fantasy weapon. It is built for fantasy and weapon collectors who want the real thing, for cosplayers and creators who need a blade that reads as authentic on camera, and for tactical and outdoor enthusiasts who want a spear they can actually use. And like the rest of our work, it is forged to your spec — six blade lengths, four finishes, two handle woods, six scabbard colours, and free engraving, all included.
Note: The Phantom Spear is an original Everest Forge fantasy-tactical design. It is not a licensed replica of any film, game, or other brand's product.

Real Forged Steel, Not a Factory Casting
The broad, dramatic fantasy spear is a popular shape — and almost every version on the market is cast or stamped from stainless steel, coated, and sold as a display piece. The Phantom Spear is the opposite. It is forged the same way as our working blades: a bar of 5160 spring steel hammered to shape by hand, water-tempered so the edge runs hard while the spine stays springy, and full-tang so the steel runs unbroken through the rosewood handle.
That means the looks are backed by real capability. The broad blade carries weight behind its point for a strong thrust and cuts on both edges, while the long 24-inch handle gives reach and leverage and the steel pommel balances it in the hand. It handles real use — thrusting and reach practice, tactical drills, bushcraft and camp tasks, and serious handling — as well as it commands a wall. If you want the look of a fantasy weapon but refuse to settle for a hollow casting, this is the difference.
The Phantom Spear — A Skeletonized Fantasy Blade
The name comes from the blade. Twin slots and a row of pierced holes are cut clean through the centre, so light passes through the heart of the spear and the steel reads as an open, ghostly silhouette. The skeletonized cut-outs are not just for show — they shed weight from the broad blade so it stays fast and balanced in the hand, while the bright bevels and forged steel pommel give it a sharp, modern, warrior-fantasy character.
It is a deliberately contemporary design that draws on the look of fantasy and game weapons while staying grounded in honest forged steel. As an original Everest Forge piece — not a copy of any brand's product or movie prop — it is yours to personalise: a striking centrepiece for a themed collection, a standout cosplay or character build, or simply a spear that stops people on the wall.
Why Collectors, Cosplayers & Outdoorsmen Choose This Spear
It is real forged steel, not a cast prop. Full-tang 5160 spring steel, water-tempered and sharpened — genuine weight, a real edge, and real capability behind the fantasy looks.
The skeletonized blade is a true standout. Cut-through slots and holes lighten the broad blade and give it an open, see-through silhouette that photographs and displays like nothing generic.
Total customisation is included, not upsold. Six blade lengths, four finishes, two handle woods, six scabbard colours, and free engraving — all part of the standard build.
It arrives complete. Forged blade, pinned rosewood handle with steel pommel, and a fitted leather scabbard — ready to display, carry, or use out of the box.
It is built to last. Water-tempered 5160 and full-tang construction mean a spear you can rely on and hand down, not one that fails the first time it is pushed.

How It's Made
01
Steel Selection
We start with 5160 high-carbon leaf spring steel reclaimed from truck springs — tough, springy, and proven for impact.
02
Hand Forging
The bar is heated and hammered to shape by hand, drawing out the broad blade and aligning the grain for strength.
03
Heat Treatment
The blade is water-tempered to set a hard cutting edge backed by a flexible spine that absorbs shock instead of snapping.
04
Hand Finishing
The centre slots and holes are cut and cleaned by hand, your finish is applied, the rosewood handle and steel pommel are fitted, and a leather scabbard is stitched to match.

Care & Maintenance
After every use: Wipe the blade clean and dry. Apply a thin coat of light oil (mineral oil, camellia oil, or 3-in-1 oil), paying attention to the edges of the cut-outs where steel is exposed.
Storage: Store in a dry environment. Avoid long-term storage in the leather scabbard. Display stand or wall mount recommended.
Rust spots: Light surface rust is normal on 5160 carbon steel and easily removed with very fine steel wool (#0000 grade) and a few drops of oil.
Sharpening: Use a quality whetstone (1000-grit working) at 22–25 degrees per side. Avoid power grinders, which can ruin the temper.
Handle care: Treat the rosewood occasionally with a little wood oil to keep it from drying out.

Is this a real forged spear or a stainless casting?
It is a real, fully hand-forged spear in 5160 high-carbon steel — water-tempered, full-tang, and sharpened. The mass-market versions of this broad fantasy-spear style are cast or stamped from stainless steel and built only to look the part. The Phantom Spear has genuine weight, a functional edge, and real capability behind its looks.
What are the cut-outs down the centre of the blade?
That is the skeletonized centre — twin slots and a row of pierced holes cut clean through the blade by hand. They are a real structural feature, not surface decoration: they shed weight from the broad blade so it stays fast and balanced, and they give the Phantom Spear its open, see-through silhouette. The surrounding steel stays full-thickness, so strength is kept where it matters.
Is it functional, or just for display?
It is fully functional. The full-tang, water-tempered 5160 construction and sharpened blade are built for real use such as thrusting and reach practice, tactical drills, bushcraft, and hard handling, as well as display. It is a working spear first, not a wall-hanger.
Is the Phantom Spear based on a movie, game, or another brand's product?
No. It is an original Everest Forge fantasy-tactical design. It draws on the broad, dramatic look of fantasy and game spears in general, but it is not a licensed replica of any specific film, game, or other maker's product, and we make no claim to reproduce any branded item.
How customisable is it?
Very. You can choose from six blade lengths (10 to 20 inches), four blade finishes, two handle woods, and six scabbard colours, plus add free engraving or upload your own logo or artwork. Every standard option is included in the price, so you are configuring a one-of-a-kind piece.
What steel is it made from, and is it durable?
It is forged from 5160 high-carbon leaf spring steel reclaimed from truck springs — a steel prized for toughness, flexibility, and edge retention. It is water-tempered for a hard edge over a springy spine, and the full-tang construction runs the steel solidly through the rosewood handle for genuine battle-ready strength.
Is the blade sharpened, and can I get it unsharpened?
It ships hand-sharpened and ready to use. If you would prefer a display, unsharpened edge that is safer for a home or office display, note it in your order or message us before we forge and we will finish it that way at no extra charge.
Does it come on a full-length pole or shaft?
No. This is a 36-inch long-reach hand spear with a 24-inch rosewood handle, not a full pole arm. That keeps it easy to handle, carry, display, and ship. If you need a longer mounted shaft or a full pole version, request it as a custom build and we will forge to your specification.
Can I use this for LARP or contact stage combat?
This is live steel, intended for real functional use, display, collection, and cosplay or reenactment posing rather than contact combat. Most LARP and contact-combat events require foam or blunted safety weapons and will not allow sharpened steel. If you want a piece purely for safe handling, ask us about a fully blunted display edge.
Can I have runes, my name, a logo, or a photo engraved on it?
Yes. Free engraving of a name, initials, runes, date, or short message is included, and you can also upload a logo, sigil, symbol, or artwork for custom photo and logo engraving on the blade. It is a popular way to personalise a character build or create a unique gift.
How long does it take to make and ship?
Each spear is hand-forged to order, with a production time of about 3 to 5 business days. It then ships worldwide via DHL Express or FedEx with full tracking, typically 5 to 10 business days in transit, roughly 8 to 15 business days from order to delivery.
What is your return and warranty policy?
Standard configurations carry a 30-day satisfaction guarantee in unused condition. Custom configurations such as custom length, finish, handle wood, or engraving are forged to your specification and are non-returnable. Every spear is backed by a 6-month limited warranty against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship.
