Meet the Makers — The Blacksmiths Behind Every Everest Forge Blade

Every sword, kukri, machete, dagger, and spear that leaves our forge in Kathmandu, Nepal was made by one of the people on this page. Not assembled from components. Not finished by machine after being shaped elsewhere. Forged — from raw steel billet to finished edge — by hand, by these blacksmiths, in our workshop. This page introduces the team behind Everest Forge and the craft they have dedicated their working lives to.

A Legacy Forged in Nepal

The art of blade forging in Nepal is not a recent industry — it is a tradition that runs through generations of families in the Himalayan foothills. The techniques used in our forge today are not learned from textbooks. They are inherited through years of standing beside experienced smiths, learning to read the colour of heated steel, to feel the resistance of the metal under the hammer, and to understand through instinct when a blade is ready for the next stage of its making.

At Everest Forge, we have built a team of blacksmiths who carry this knowledge forward. Some have been forging blades for decades. All of them bring a level of skill and commitment to their work that cannot be replicated by automation. To understand the complete forging process they use every day, read our full guide on The Making.

What Our Smiths Make

While the kukri remains central to our roots — and the blade our smiths have the deepest generational connection to — our team now forges a much wider range of functional blades for buyers across the world:

Every piece is forged using the same process — 5160 high carbon steel, oil tempered by hand, full tang construction, individually tested before shipping. To learn more about our steel choice and why it matters, read our guide on Why 5160 Carbon Steel is Ideal for Hand-Forged Blades.

Meet Our Master Blacksmiths

These are the skilled artisans behind every blade at Everest Forge. Their hands turn raw steel into blades that are shipped to collectors, outdoorsmen, martial artists, and enthusiasts across the world.

Custom Forging — Your Vision in Steel

Every standard blade on our site can be customised — blade finish, handle material, blade length, scabbard style, and personalisation are all selected before you order. For buyers who want something that does not exist in our standard range, our Custom Forge service allows you to commission a blade built entirely to your specification — a historical replica, a fantasy design, a matched pair, or a blade from your own sketch.

Our smiths have built blades to museum specifications, to military service dimensions, and from concepts that existed only on paper. If you can describe it clearly, they can forge it. To understand the full custom forging process from your initial request to the finished blade, read our guide on Our Craftsmanship.

Our Promise — Behind Every Blade

The blacksmiths at Everest Forge take personal responsibility for the quality of what they make. Every blade is individually inspected and tested before it is approved for shipping. For custom and personalised orders, photos and a short video are sent to the customer for approval before the blade leaves Nepal. If a blade does not pass inspection, it returns to the forge — it does not ship.

This individual accountability is backed by our satisfaction guarantee — if you are not completely happy when your blade arrives, we offer a full refund or free replacement. To understand what happens from the moment you place your order to the moment your blade arrives, read our After You Order guide. For full details on our guarantee and return policy, visit our Our Promise page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who makes Everest Forge blades?
Every blade is hand-forged by our team of master blacksmiths in Kathmandu, Nepal. Our smiths have spent years — in many cases their entire working lives — learning the craft of blade forging through direct apprenticeship and hands-on experience. No machines do the shaping work. Every blade is formed by hand from raw steel billet to finished edge.

How many blacksmiths work at Everest Forge?
Our team includes master smiths responsible for forging and quality control, specialists in sharpening, grinding, and polishing, and dedicated scabbard and sheath makers. Every person on the team plays a specific role in producing the finished blade you receive.

Where is Everest Forge located?
Our forge is located in Kathmandu, Nepal. All blades are forged, finished, and shipped directly from our workshop in Kathmandu using DHL Express with full tracking.

Can I commission a completely custom blade?
Yes. Our Custom Forge service allows you to commission a blade built entirely to your specification — from a historical replica to a completely original design. Our smiths will work with you through a design consultation before forging begins.

Do the smiths test every blade before it ships?

Will I see my blade before it ships?
Yes. For custom and personalised orders, photos and a short video of your completed blade are sent to you for approval before it leaves Nepal. You confirm every detail before dispatch. Full details are on our After You Order page.
