Small EDC Kukri & Mini Khukuri — Compact Hand-Forged Blades

Small EDC Kukri & Mini Khukuri — Compact Hand-Forged Blades

Small EDC Kukri & Mini Khukuri — Compact Hand-Forged Blades for Everyday Carry & Collectors

Real kukri performance in pocket, neck, or belt-carry size. 21 hand-forged compact kukris from 4-inch letter-opener miniatures to 8-inch utility EDC blades — all forged by Kami caste blacksmiths in our Kathmandu workshop, all hand-shaped from 5160 high-carbon spring steel, all the same military-grade quality as our British Gurkha Army supply contracts. Just smaller, so you can actually carry them every day.

This collection serves two buyers: the modern EDC carrier who wants a real hand-forged kukri on their belt instead of another factory-stamped folder, and the collector or gift buyer who wants a compact authentic Nepali blade as a desk piece, letter opener, or scaled version of an iconic full-size pattern.

Hand-forged 5160 spring steel, water-tempered  ·  4 to 8 inch blade lengths  ·  Full-tang or stick-tang (varies by design)  ·  Real kukri performance, not factory-stamped novelty  ·  Every product fully customisable  ·  Free engraving on every order  ·  Direct from forge — not a marketplace

Why a Hand-Forged Mini Kukri Beats a Factory-Stamped EDC Knife

Most EDC knives in this size range are stamped stainless folders or fixed-blades — fine for opening Amazon boxes, but no real cutting personality. A 6-inch hand-forged kukri puts the same forward-curve geometry that gives the full-size kukri its legendary chopping power into a size that fits a belt sheath, a neck cord, or a pack pocket. Drop-cuts paracord. Splits kindling for a small fire. Processes small game. Opens letters with a story to tell. Notches wood. Carves food. Does what a factory EDC folder can do — and does what it can't.

And while a Cold Steel Mini Kukri is stamped from sheet steel in Taiwan, every blade in this collection is forged by hand in Kathmandu by Kami caste blacksmiths — the hereditary blade-makers of Nepal. Same forge that supplies official kukris to the British Gurkha Army (BSI Service No.1, 2008), Nepal Army, and Nepal Police. The size is small. The forging process is identical to the full-size military-grade blades.

Why These Make the Best Knife Gifts

A hand-forged compact kukri is one of the few gifts in the $30–$100 range that's genuinely unique, genuinely useful, and genuinely personal. It's hand-made by people whose family name has forged blades for generations. It can be engraved with the recipient's name, dedication, or unit motto for free. It arrives in a hand-stitched leather scabbard. And it's not a knife your friend already has — because most people have never seen a hand-forged kukri at this scale.

Popular gift use cases: Father's Day, military retirement, groomsmen gifts, milestone birthdays (40th, 50th, 60th), "boss who has everything" gifts, knife collector additions, Gurkha veteran tributes, fan gifts (the Mini Service No.1 for Gurkha enthusiasts, Paper Kukri for office pranks-with-a-soul, Mini Dragon for fantasy collectors).

Direct From the Forge — Not Amazon, Not Etsy

"Mini kukris" on online marketplaces are mostly factory-stamped imitations from outside Nepal. Many are fake stainless. Many are sold as "Nepali" but made elsewhere. None are made by Kami caste blacksmiths in actual Nepal. None are customisable. None offer free engraving. None come with photo approval before shipping.

Every small EDC kukri on this page is hand-forged in our Kathmandu workshop by 10 Kami blacksmiths. We send photos of your finished blade for approval before shipping. You can request changes. Free engraving. Direct from the forge to your door — no marketplace fee, no middleman, no mystery about where your blade was made.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a mini kukri or EDC kukri?

A mini kukri (also called a small kukri or EDC kukri) is a scaled-down version of the traditional Nepali kukri, typically with a blade length between 4 and 8 inches. Designed for everyday carry, pocket use, neck-carry, or as a collector / desk piece. Despite the smaller size, hand-forged mini kukris retain the forward-curve geometry that gives the full-size kukri its legendary cutting performance — making them genuinely useful tools, not novelty items.

What's the smallest kukri you make?

Our smallest is the Paper Kukri / Letter Opener at 4 inches — a true miniature designed as a desk piece and gift item. Above that, the Mini Sirupate (5"), Mini Dhankute (5"), and Biltong Pocket Kukri (5") are our most pocket-friendly working sizes. For real EDC utility carry, we recommend 6–8 inch blade lengths like the EDC Compact, Hunter's EDC, Mini Jungle, or Derringer EDC.

Can a small kukri actually replace a regular EDC knife?

Yes — and it does more. A 6–8 inch hand-forged kukri opens packages, cuts cordage, processes small wood, dresses small game, prepares food, splits kindling, and handles every cutting task a folding EDC handles — plus chops, batons, and notches things a folding knife can't. The forward-curve geometry generates more cutting force per stroke than a straight-blade EDC. Many of our buyers carry a small kukri as their primary fixed-blade EDC alongside a folder for finer work.

Are these mini kukris actually sharp and functional?

Yes — every blade is fully sharpened to a working edge, hand-forged from 5160 high-carbon spring steel, water-tempered, and built to the same standards we use for our British Gurkha Army, Nepal Army, and Nepal Police military supply contracts. These are real working knives, not display replicas. The Paper Kukri / letter opener is the only piece intentionally less sharp, designed for desk use rather than cutting.

What's the difference between this and a Cold Steel mini kukri or factory mini kukri?

Factory mini kukris are mass-stamped from sheet steel by machines in factories, then heat-treated in batch. Our mini kukris are hand-forged individually by Kami caste blacksmiths in Kathmandu, water-tempered the traditional way for differential hardness (hard edge, tough spine). Hand-forged blades hold an edge longer, resist chipping better, and have a craftsmanship character a factory blade cannot replicate. You're also paying a fair price to the actual Nepali blacksmiths — not a margin to a Western brand and a factory contractor.

Can I get a custom Kydex sheath, neck-carry, or pocket clip?

Yes — request through our Custom Forge service or message us on the product page. We can pair compact kukris with custom Kydex sheaths, neck-carry leather cord scabbards, pocket carry sheaths, or belt-clip configurations. Send us your carry preferences and we'll build it.

Do these make good gifts?

Yes — small kukris are among our most popular gift items. The combination of authentic hand-forged Nepali heritage, free engraving (name, dedication, date, regiment, message), affordable price points starting at $29.99, and one-of-a-kind nature makes them ideal for Father's Day, retirement gifts, milestone birthdays, military leaving gifts, groomsmen, knife collector friends, and Gurkha veteran tributes. The Paper Kukri is a popular office-gift conversation piece. The Mini Service No.1 is the favorite among Gurkha collectors.

Can I get my mini kukri engraved?

Yes — engraving is free on every order. Add a name, date, dedication, regimental marking, fictional inscription, or any text up to ~30 characters. We engrave in Latin or Devanagari (Nepali) script. Photos sent for your approval before shipping.

Are mini kukris legal to carry as EDC?

Knife carry laws vary by country, state, and city. Many places allow fixed-blade knife carry under specific blade-length limits (often 3–4 inches concealed, longer when openly carried), and some require open carry only. Mini kukris in this collection range from 4–8 inch blades. Buyers are responsible for understanding their local laws — check your jurisdiction's specific knife carry regulations before EDC-ing any fixed blade. We ship in compliance with origin and destination customs rules.

What's the price range?

From $29.99 (Paper Kukri / Letter Opener) up to $94.99 (Hunter's EDC Compact). Most working-size EDC kukris fall in the $50–$80 range. The Paper Kukri is our most affordable hand-forged item across the entire catalog.

How long does delivery take worldwide?

Forging takes 5–7 days, then 5–7 days for express shipping — about 10–14 days door to door. UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Germany, and most of the EU have established DDP routes — duties paid upfront, no customs surprises.

Why buy from Everest Forge instead of Amazon or eBay?

Most "mini kukris" on marketplaces are factory-stamped, often made outside Nepal, with no maker accountability. Buying direct from us means you're talking to the actual Kathmandu forge. Owner Deepak Sunar is a Kami caste blacksmith. Our 10 Kami smiths forge each blade individually. You get full customisation, free engraving, photo approval before shipping, and a 30-day refund. No marketplace fee. No reseller. Direct from forge to door.
