Bushcraft & Survival Kukri — Hand-Forged in Nepal, Built for Real Outdoor Work
One blade that replaces your machete, hatchet, and camp knife. Hand-forged in our Kathmandu workshop by Kami caste blacksmiths from 5160 high-carbon spring steel — the same forge that supplies kukris to the British Gurkha Army, Nepal Army, and Nepal Police. These aren't decorative pieces or factory-stamped knockoffs. They're working tools built for bushcraft, survival, jungle clearing, wood processing, hunting camp, homestead, and serious field use.
The Blade Bushcraft & Survival Communities Trust
The kukri keeps showing up at the top of bushcraft and survival recommendations for one reason: it's the closest thing to a one-blade solution. The forward-curve geometry concentrates impact force at the belly of the blade, generating axe-like chopping power in a knife-sized package. With one tool you can chop down trees, batton kindling, clear brush, butcher game, prepare camp food, dig, hammer tent stakes, and handle close work that a full-size machete or hatchet can't manage.
Bushcraft thru-hikers, survival instructors, homesteaders, off-grid builders, and special-forces operators keep coming back to the kukri as the one-blade solution. After 200 years of refinement by Nepali Kamis and proven by the Gurkhas in two World Wars, the design hasn't been improved on — only mass-produced in factories that lose its soul.
Hand-Forged in Nepal — Not Stamped in a Factory
Most "kukri-style" blades on the market today are factory-stamped. They borrow the kukri's iconic shape but lose what makes a real kukri perform: hand-forged tempering, traditional Kami construction, the centuries of refinement that put the right mass in the right place along the curve.
Every blade in this collection is individually hand-forged in our Kathmandu workshop by 10 Kami caste blacksmiths — the hereditary blade-makers of Nepal. We forge from 5160 high-carbon spring steel sourced from truck leaf-spring stock, water-tempered the traditional way to produce a hard cutting edge backed by a tough, flexible spine that absorbs shock without chipping.
The same standards we use to supply official kukris to the British Gurkha Army (BSI Service No.1, 2008), Nepal Army (2015–2018), and Nepal Police (2016–2017) go into every blade you see below.

Direct From the Forge — Not a Marketplace
Online marketplaces are full of "Nepalese kukris" — many made in China and sold as Nepali, many stamped stainless steel sold as hand-forged, many with no maker accountability. When something fails, the marketplace takes its cut and disappears. You can't talk to the smith. You can't change the design. What's listed is what you get.
Everestforge.com is different. You're buying directly from the forge in Kathmandu. Deepak Sunar, our owner and a member of the Kami caste, runs operations personally. Our 10 Kami blacksmiths forge each blade individually. Every product page on this site lets you customise — choose blade length where supported, pick handle material, request scabbard style, add free engraving. Have a specific need? Send us a message — we'll forge it. Want photos of the work in progress? We send them. Want changes before shipping? We make them.
No marketplace fees inflating the price. No reseller in between. Direct from the forge — the way Nepali Kamis have sold kukris for two centuries.
Customise Your Kukri — Every Product, Every Order
Every kukri on this page is fully customisable. Click any product and you'll see customisation options for blade length (where the model supports variation), handle material (rosewood, buffalo horn, hardwood), scabbard style (traditional leather, military pattern), and free engraving. Want something specific that's not in the listed options — different blade profile, longer or shorter blade, custom handle shape, regimental marking, your own design? Message us through the product page or our Custom Forge service. We'll forge it to your exact spec.
Free personalisation on every order. Add a name, dedication, date, regiment, unit motto, or short message at checkout. Hand-engraved by the smith on the blade or scabbard before shipping. We send photos of the finished blade for your approval. You approve, we ship.
How to Choose Your Working Kukri
The right blade depends on what you'll do with it. Use this guide to find your fit from the 46 working kukris below:
For heavy wood processing & camp chopping — Pick a thick spine, heavy blade, 12–16 inches. Models like the Jungle Master Khukuri (16"), Ironback Kukri (thickest spine in our lineup), Rhino Khukuri (heavy-bodied chopper), and Fatman Kukri (wide-body 12") are built for repeated hard strikes through hardwood.
For bushcraft, survival, and one-blade trekking — Look for full-tang construction, balanced 11–13 inch blades, and durable working handles. The Survival Chirra Kukri, Everest Survival Kukri, Hollow Ground Survival Kukri, and Survival Panawal Sirupate are the bushcraft community picks — light enough to carry all day, heavy enough to do real work.
For jungle clearing & brush work — Long, narrow blades that move fast. The Cheetlange Swift Khukuri (16" narrow), Panawal Cheetlange, and Cheetlange Field Kukri are designed for sweeping cuts through dense growth.
For farm, homestead & everyday outdoor work — Traditional working profiles refined over generations of village use. The Bhojpure Shepherd Khukuri, Shepherd Sirupate Khukuri, Chainpure Farmer Kukri, and Everest Angkhola Panawal are forged in the patterns Nepalese farmers and shepherds carry every day.
For tactical, modern outdoor, and combat utility — Modern handles with guards, double-fuller designs, tactical grips. The Tactical Gripper Kukri, Panther Grip Kukri, D-Guard Khukuri Machete, D-Guard Farmer Khukuri, and D-Guard Kukri Knife bring modern tactical features to traditional kukri performance.
For butchering & meat processing — Heavy belly, wide cutting zone. The Kasai Khukuri and Butcher Kukri are inspired by the traditional Nepali Dau (butcher's knife) and built for the task.

Why a Kukri Outperforms Most Other Tools
vs. a machete: Kukri's forward-weighted curve generates chopping force a machete can't match. Bites deeper into hardwood, splits kindling cleaner, and handles close work the machete is too long for.
vs. a hatchet: Kukri carries lighter, sheathes safer, slices vegetation a hatchet can't, and handles fine work a hatchet edge is too thick for. Chops surprisingly close to a small hatchet's performance for wood processing.
vs. a camp knife: Kukri delivers chopping and brush-clearing capability a 4–6 inch camp knife simply cannot. Doesn't replace your fixed-blade for fine work, but covers everything bigger.
vs. factory-stamped "kukri-style" knives: Mass-produced kukri-style blades borrow the shape but skip the forging tradition. Hand-forged 5160 spring steel, traditional Kami water-tempering, and full-tang construction give the original its performance edge — the soul that makes a real kukri perform.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best kukri for bushcraft and survival?
For one-blade bushcraft and survival use, look for a full-tang construction, 11–13 inch blade length, and balanced weight that lets you carry all day without fatigue. Models like the Survival Chirra Kukri, Everest Survival Kukri, and Hollow Ground Survival Kukri are built specifically for this use case. The forward-curve geometry of the kukri generates chopping force a regular camp knife can't match, while still handling fine work a machete is too long for.
Is a kukri better than a machete?
For most outdoor work, yes. The kukri's forward-weighted curve concentrates impact force at the belly of the blade, generating axe-like chopping power that a machete can't match. A machete is faster for sweeping brush in dense vegetation, but a kukri handles wood processing, batoning, fine work, and camp chores far better. Many bushcrafters carry one kukri instead of both a machete and a hatchet.
Can a kukri replace a hatchet?
For most camp work — yes. A 12–14 inch heavy-spine kukri (like the Jungle Master, Ironback, or Rhino) chops surprisingly close to a small hatchet's performance for wood processing, while also handling brush clearing, food prep, butchering, and fine work that a hatchet can't. It also carries lighter and sheathes safer than a hatchet on the belt or pack.
What's the difference between hand-forged and factory-stamped kukris?
Hand-forged kukris are hammered to shape from heated steel by individual blacksmiths, then water-tempered to create a differential hardness profile — hard cutting edge, tough flexible spine. Factory-stamped kukri-style knives are cut from steel sheet by machine and run through a uniform heat treatment. The result: hand-forged blades chop deeper, hold an edge longer, and resist chipping better under impact. Factory blades are cheaper to produce but lose the performance edge that defines a real working kukri.
Are these kukris battle-ready?
Yes. Every kukri in this collection is forged to the same military specification we use for our British Gurkha Army, Nepal Army, and Nepal Police supply contracts. Water-tempered 5160 spring steel, sharpened to a working edge, full tang where the design requires it. These are working blades, not display pieces.
Can I customise the blade length, handle, or scabbard?
Yes — every product page has customisation options for blade length (where supported), handle material, scabbard style, and free engraving. Want something more specific — different blade profile, custom handle (Micarta, paracord, antler), upgraded scabbard, your own design? Message us through the product page or use our Custom Forge service. We'll forge it to your exact spec.
Why buy direct from your forge instead of a marketplace?
Marketplaces are full of mass-produced kukri-style blades sold as authentic, with no maker accountability and no way to customise. Buying direct from us means you're talking to the actual forge — Deepak Sunar, our owner and a Kami caste blacksmith, runs operations personally. Every blade is made by our 10 Kami blacksmiths in Kathmandu. You can request customisation. We send photos before shipping. You can request changes. And there's no marketplace fee inflating the price. Direct from the forge, the way kukris have been bought from Nepali Kamis for two centuries.
What steel are these kukris made from?
Every blade is forged from 5160 high-carbon spring steel — sourced from truck leaf-spring stock, exactly the material traditional Nepali Kamis have used for generations. 5160 is prized for its toughness, edge retention, and ability to take a water-temper that produces a hard cutting edge with a flexible, shock-absorbing spine. It's the same steel used in our British Gurkha Army supply contracts.
What blade size should I get for jungle / brush clearing?
For sweeping cuts through dense vegetation, look for longer narrow blades — 14–16 inches with reduced belly weight. The Cheetlange Swift Khukuri (16" narrow), Panawal Cheetlange, and Cheetlange Field Kukri are designed specifically for jungle clearing and fast brush work. They sacrifice some chopping power for speed and reach.
Can I get my kukri engraved with a name or dedication?
Yes — engraving is free on every order. Add a name, dedication, regiment, unit motto, date, or short message at checkout. Hand-engraved by the smith on the blade or scabbard before shipping. We send photos for your approval before the kukri leaves the workshop. Especially popular for retirement gifts, milestone gifts, and personal keepsakes.
How long does delivery take worldwide?
Forging takes 5–7 days (each blade made to order, not pulled from a warehouse), then 5–7 days for express shipping — about 10–14 days door to door. UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Germany, and most of the EU have established DDP routes — duties and taxes paid upfront, no customs surprises on delivery.
What's your refund policy?
30-day full refund guarantee. If your kukri arrives and isn't what you expected, contact us within 30 days for a full refund. We also send you photos of the finished blade before it ships, so you can request changes before the kukri leaves Nepal. Direct from the forge means direct support — you talk to us, not a marketplace customer service line.
