A standard working kukri runs 10–14 inches in blade length. A long-reach kukri sword goes to 18–24 inches with a slim narrow profile. Forging a large kukri is not the same job as forging a smaller one scaled up. The thermodynamics are different — large blades hold heat differently, distribute stress differently under hammer impact, and require longer at temperature with more passes. A small forging mistake on a 12-inch blade is recoverable. The same mistake on a 36-inch blade can ruin the whole piece.
