Most fantasy and tactical spears on the market are stainless steel — cast or stamped, then coated, and built to look the part rather than do anything. The Shadow Spear is the opposite. It is forged the same way as our working blades: a bar of 5160 spring steel hammered to shape by hand, water-tempered so the edge runs hard while the spine stays springy, and full-tang so the steel runs unbroken through the iron handle.

That means the dark looks are backed by real capability. The long, narrow blade is a dedicated thrusting and piercing profile with serious reach on its 28-inch handle, and the leather-wrapped iron grip gives weight and control behind every move. Care & Maintenance

After every use: Wipe the blade clean and dry. Apply a thin coat of light oil (mineral oil, camellia oil, or 3-in-1 oil).

Storage: Store in a dry environment. Avoid long-term storage in the leather scabbard. Display stand or wall mount recommended.

Rust spots: Light surface rust is normal on 5160 carbon steel and easily removed with very fine steel wool (#0000 grade) and a few drops of oil. Pay attention to the edges of the cut-out centre, where a little oil on a cloth keeps the exposed steel protected.

Sharpening: Use a quality whetstone (1000-grit working) at 22–25 degrees per side. Avoid power grinders, which can ruin the temper.

Handle care: Condition the leather wrap occasionally with leather conditioner or saddle soap.
