A Real Tactical Working Spear

This is forged the same way as our working blades: a bar of 5160 spring steel hammered to shape by hand, water-tempered so the edge runs hard while the spine stays springy, and full-tang so the steel runs unbroken from the point all the way to the striking pommel. The long, narrow blade is a dedicated piercing profile that thrusts deep and cuts on both edges, while the ground fuller and cut-through slot trim weight to keep it fast and balanced in the hand.

The compact 25-inch length makes it easy to carry and control, and the full-tang build takes real abuse — thrusting and close-range work, bushcraft and camp tasks, field utility, and serious handling. This is a spear meant to be used, not just admired, while still being clean enough to display.

Care & Maintenance

After every use: Wipe the blade clean and dry. Apply a thin coat of light oil (mineral oil, camellia oil, or 3-in-1 oil).

Storage: Store in a dry environment. Avoid long-term storage in the leather scabbard. Display stand or wall mount recommended.

Rust spots: Light surface rust is normal on 5160 carbon steel and easily removed with very fine steel wool (#0000 grade) and a few drops of oil.

Sharpening: Use a quality whetstone (1000-grit working) at 22–25 degrees per side. Avoid power grinders, which can ruin the temper.

Handle & pommel care: Treat the rosewood occasionally with a little wood oil, and buff the brass collar with metal polish. After heavy use of the striking pommel, check the handle and pins for any wear.
