Choose the blade finish, the metal of the fittings and the leather colour — then we forge that exact spear. Every selection updates the preview on screen. There are 72 possible combinations, and each one is a build our smiths in Kathmandu make routinely.
Underneath every combination is the same piece: an 8-inch leaf-shaped, double-edged spearhead hand-forged from 5160 spring steel, set on a 20-inch leather-wrapped rosewood haft with decorative metal fittings. It is our unofficial tribute to the spear carried by Prince Nuada Silverlance in Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) — forged as a real working blade rather than a display prop, and sized at 28 inches overall as a compact hand-spear.

Prince Nuada and His Spear
In Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Prince Nuada Silverlance (played by Luke Goss) is an exiled elven prince who returns to wake the Golden Army and take back the world from humankind. His spear — a leaf-shaped blade on a slender gold-detailed shaft that telescopes in and out of the hand — is the weapon most fans remember from the film, used in his training scenes and in his final duel with Hellboy.
Del Toro took the name from Irish myth. Nuada Airgetlám, "Nuada of the Silver Hand", was a king of the Tuatha Dé Danann who lost his hand in battle and was given a working hand of silver. His weapon in the old tales was a sword, not a spear: the Sword of Nuada was one of the four treasures the Tuatha Dé brought to Ireland, while the spear among those treasures belonged to Lug. The film gave the exiled prince a spear; the myth gave the silver-handed king a sword. Our Hellboy II-inspired khopesh sword is the other half of that story.
Which Blade Finish Suits the Spear?
Fittings and Leather
The fittings are the pommel at the butt of the haft and the decorative bands along it — the detail that gives Nuada's spear its courtly look. Brass is warm gold and the classic choice; it softens to a patina with handling. Silver-tone is a bright white metal that stays bright longest. Copper is warmer and redder, and darkens fastest.
The leather colour sets the look of the haft wrap and the spearhead scabbard. Black and brown are the most restrained and closest to a film-style build; red makes a royal statement against brass; green and blue suit an elven or woodland costume; white is the most striking and shows wear soonest. An Honest Note on This Spear
An honest note. Four things worth saying plainly. First, this is an unofficial tribute, not a licensed replica, and it is not a millimetre copy of the film prop: the screen spear telescopes and reads much longer in the film, while ours is a fixed 28-inch hand-spear sized for display, cosplay and handling. If you want a full-length spear, ask through custom forge. Second, the silver-tone fittings are a bright white metal, not sterling silver. Third, 5160 is not stainless. It will rust if left wet or stored in its scabbard; keep it lightly oiled. Fourth, it ships with sharp edges — for convention use, check the event's weapons policy and consider a stage-combat build.

How Your Order Is Made
Caring for Your Spear
Wipe the blade dry after handling — skin acid marks carbon steel quickly — and keep a light film of oil on it; any mineral or machine oil works. Do not store the spearhead in its leather scabbard for long periods, because leather holds moisture against steel; a stand or wall mount is the better home for display. Brass and copper fittings patina with handling and polish back with any metal polish if you prefer them bright. Treat the leather wrap with a little leather conditioner now and then to keep it supple.
Shipping, Returns and Warranty
Every piece is prepared at the forge in seven to ten days, and shipping adds a further seven to ten days. Orders to the USA and Canada travel with FedEx; everywhere else ships on a DDP service, which means duties and taxes are settled before the parcel moves so there is nothing to pay on delivery. Every piece carries the Everest Forge manufacturer warranty against defects in forging and heat treatment. Because a configured spear is made to your specification, it falls outside our standard returns window except where the blade is faulty — full terms are on our shipping and returns page. Questions About the Prince Nuada-Inspired Spear
Is this an officially licensed Hellboy II replica?
No. It is an unofficial, hand-forged tribute inspired by Prince Nuada's spear in Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008). It is not licensed or endorsed by Universal Pictures, Dark Horse Comics, Guillermo del Toro or any rights holder of the Hellboy franchise. What it offers instead is a hand-forged 5160 steel spearhead in a combination you choose yourself.
How close is it to the spear in the film?
Close in character, not in every measurement. The leaf-shaped double-edged blade, the slim wrapped haft and the metal pommel and bands follow the film spear's look. The screen spear telescopes and appears considerably longer in use; ours is a fixed 28-inch hand-spear. We have prioritised a real forged blade and a practical size over a millimetre copy of the prop.
How is this different from your standard Prince Nuada spear?

Which fittings are closest to the film?
Brass. Its warm gold tone is the nearest to the gold detailing on Nuada's spear. Silver-tone gives a cooler, more elven look, and copper a warmer, less expected one. The preview shows each against your chosen leather colour.
Are the silver fittings real silver?
No. The silver-tone option is a bright white metal chosen for a silver look. It stays bright longer than brass or copper and needs no special care. Sterling silver fittings can be quoted through our custom forge service.
Why did Prince Nuada carry a spear if the mythical Nuada had a sword?
That was the film's choice. In Irish myth, Nuada Airgetlám — Nuada of the Silver Hand — was a king of the Tuatha Dé Danann, and the treasure linked to him was a sword. The spear among the Tuatha Dé's four treasures belonged to Lug, who later took the kingship. Del Toro borrowed Nuada's name and story of lost royalty and armed his exiled prince with a spear.
Is it good for cosplay?
Yes, and the configurator lets you match the fittings and leather to your costume. The standard build ships sharp, so check your convention's weapons policy before you travel: many require blades to be peace-bonded, and some ban metal weapons. For events and performance, add "Stage combat build — rebated edge, rounded tip." in the order note and read our stage combat standard.
Is it sharp?
Yes. Both edges are sharpened and the point is acute, so handle it with care on unboxing and keep the scabbard on in storage. If you need a blunt version, request a stage-combat build in the order note.
Can I order a longer spear?
Not through this configurator, which keeps the spear at 28 inches overall. A full-length haft, a longer blade, engraving or Nuada's matching weapons are all available through our custom forge service, where we quote your design individually.
Will 5160 steel rust?
Yes, if you let it. 5160 is a high-carbon spring steel, not stainless, and that is a deliberate trade: it is far tougher than the stainless steel used in most display replicas, at the cost of needing care. Wipe it dry after handling, keep a light film of oil on it, and display it on a stand rather than leaving it in the leather scabbard. Black coated reduces the upkeep.
Can I import a spear into my country?
Most countries allow spears for collection and display, but rules on edged weapons and on public carry vary, and a few countries restrict them more tightly. It is the buyer's responsibility to check local import and ownership rules before ordering. If you are unsure, contact us before you place the order.
Can I order it left-handed?
A double-edged spear works equally in either hand, so no change is needed. If you have a specific handling request, write it in the order note and the forge will take care of it.
