The Everest Forge Phantom Spear is a hand-forged fantasy tactical spear with a broad, bright, skeletonized blade. The wide double-edged head swells out and tapers to a long thrusting point, with twin slots and pierced holes cut clean through the centre — openings that drop weight and give the spear its striking, see-through silhouette. It rides on a slim, pinned rosewood handle capped with a forged steel pommel, and comes complete with a hand-stitched leather scabbard. Forged from 5160 high-carbon spring steel reclaimed from truck springs, water-tempered, and full-tang from point to pommel, it is real, functional steel — not a factory casting.

The Phantom Spear is the opposite. It is forged the same way as our working blades: a bar of 5160 spring steel hammered to shape by hand, water-tempered so the edge runs hard while the spine stays springy, and full-tang so the steel runs unbroken through the rosewood handle.

Care & Maintenance

After every use: Wipe the blade clean and dry. Apply a thin coat of light oil (mineral oil, camellia oil, or 3-in-1 oil), paying attention to the edges of the cut-outs where steel is exposed.

Storage: Store in a dry environment. Avoid long-term storage in the leather scabbard. Display stand or wall mount recommended.

Rust spots: Light surface rust is normal on 5160 carbon steel and easily removed with very fine steel wool (#0000 grade) and a few drops of oil.

Sharpening: Use a quality whetstone (1000-grit working) at 22–25 degrees per side. Avoid power grinders, which can ruin the temper.

Handle care: Treat the rosewood occasionally with a little wood oil to keep it from drying out.
