Viking Sword – Petersen Type X | Hand Forged Norse Blade with Floral Etching
The Viking Sword – Petersen Type X by Everest Forge is a historically inspired one-handed weapon forged for strength, precision, and heritage. This design is based on the Petersen Type X classification from the Viking Age, known for its wide fuller, straight crossguard, and transition toward early medieval knightly swords. It embodies the legacy of elite Norse warriors who balanced speed, power, and prestige on the battlefield.
Dating to the late 9th to early 11th century, Type X swords were widely used across Scandinavia, the British Isles, and parts of Eastern Europe. They represent the evolution from traditional Viking swords to more refined arming swords of the medieval era. Characterized by a broad, flat blade with a deep fuller and a simple, straight guard, the Type X was favored for its cutting power and improved balance. Many historical examples also featured lobed or triangular pommels, helping to counterbalance the blade and serve as a visual marker of status.
This version includes a polished 21-inch blade made of 5160 carbon steel with a floral etching along the flat for added elegance. Water-tempered and sharpened, it is built for real functionality. The 7-inch rosewood handle is wrapped in stitched leather for a secure grip, and the sword comes with a custom-fitted leather scabbard for protection and transport.
