Rambo V "Last Blood" Heartstopper Knife — 10-Inch Hand-Forged Combat Blade with Full-Tang 5160 Spring Steel and Polished Rosewood Handle

The Rambo V knife (also known as the Rambo Last Blood knife or "Heartstopper") hand-forged in Kathmandu, Nepal from 5160 high carbon spring steel reclaimed from truck leaf springs. 10-inch blade, 15.5 inches overall at 651 grams — the most compact and carryable Rambo blade in the series, designed by Gil Hibben for the 2019 film Rambo: Last Blood. Full-tang construction, polished rosewood handle, hand-stitched leather scabbard. The right Rambo knife if you want the franchise heritage in a real working size you can actually use and carry. Free engraving up to 30 characters. Worldwide shipping via DHL Express & FedEx International. 30-day satisfaction guarantee. 6-month warranty.

The Rambo V knife is the compact combat blade John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) carried in Rambo: Last Blood (2019), the fifth and final film in the Rambo franchise. Designed by American master knifemaker Gil Hibben, the Rambo V reverses the size escalation of the previous films — after the massive Rambo III Bowie (12-inch blade) and the Rambo IV cleaver (13-inch blade), Hibben designed Last Blood's blade as a compact, brutally functional combat knife at 10 inches. Fans nicknamed it "the Heartstopper" for its blunt, almost surgical efficiency on screen, and the name has stuck.

This Everest Forge Rambo V Heartstopper is a hand-forged tribute to that 2019 Hibben design, built in our Kathmandu workshop from 5160 high carbon spring steel reclaimed from real truck leaf springs — the same battle-grade material we use for our combat Roman gladii and Viking swords. Water-tempered for the right balance of edge retention and impact strength. Full tang from blade tip to handle butt. Polished rosewood handle pinned to the tang. Hand-stitched leather scabbard. At 651 grams, this is the lightest Rambo blade we make — and the most practical for buyers who actually want to carry the knife rather than mount it on a wall.

Unofficial hand-forged Rambo V Last Blood tribute knife. Not affiliated with Lions Gate Entertainment, Millennium Films, MGM, Sylvester Stallone, Hibben Knives, Gil Hibben, Master Cutlery, United Cutlery, or any film studio or licensed knifemaker. Inspired by the design language of the 2019 Rambo: Last Blood Heartstopper for collectors and survival enthusiasts seeking a real hand-forged version.

Why the Heartstopper Is the Most Practical Rambo Blade

For three films, the Rambo knives got bigger. The 1982 First Blood blade was 9 inches. Rambo III went to 12 inches. Rambo IV pushed to 13 inches with the cleaver geometry. Then in 2019, with Last Blood, Hibben deliberately reversed the trend.

The Rambo V is compact, fast, and practical in ways the larger Rambo knives are not. At 10 inches blade and 15.5 inches overall, it carries on a belt without looking like a costume piece. At 651 grams, it's roughly half the weight of the Rambo IV cleaver and lighter than every other knife in the cluster. The blade geometry is built for close-quarters efficiency rather than dramatic display — brutally functional in the hand, less imposing on a wall.

Who should choose the Heartstopper?

  • Buyers who actually want to carry a Rambo knife. The compact size keeps it within most jurisdictions' legal carry limits where the 17-inch Part II or 19-inch Rambo IV would not be.
  • Modern tactical aesthetic buyers. The Heartstopper looks contemporary — not the cinematic 1980s survival aesthetic of the First Blood era. It fits better with a tactical kit than a cabin wall.
  • Last Blood fans specifically. If the 2019 film is the Rambo entry that resonates with you, this is the only knife in the cluster that captures that era.
  • Collectors completing the franchise. If you already own one or two of the larger Rambo knives, the Heartstopper completes the five-film series in your collection.
  • Everyday carry / EDC users. The compact size and lighter weight make this the only Rambo knife that's genuinely practical for actual EDC, not just outdoor survival kit.

Choose a different Rambo knife if you want the iconic 1980s survival-knife aesthetic (see Rambo Part One or Part II), the most cinematic Bowie silhouette (see Rambo III), or a heavy chopping tool (see Rambo IV cleaver). The Heartstopper serves a specific buyer; it's not a universal Rambo blade.

What Makes This Hand-Forged Heartstopper Different

The Rambo V market is smaller than the Bowie market — the Heartstopper is a less-cloned design, both because the 2019 film is more recent and because the compact combat geometry is harder to mass-produce convincingly. The alternatives still divide into clear tiers. Hibben Knives sells a licensed Rambo V Heartstopper in the $200–$400 range — faithful to Hibben's specifications, machine-finished, often signed and serialised. Pakistani Damascus-pattern Heartstoppers exist but are uncommon. Cheap Chinese stainless versions exist but rarely — the compact form factor doesn't lend itself to costume-piece marketing.

This Rambo V Heartstopper is in a different category. Hand-forged from a single billet of 5160 high carbon spring steel reclaimed from a truck leaf spring — the same battle-grade steel we use in our combat swords. The full tang is drawn from the same billet as the blade. The rosewood handle is hand-fitted and pinned through the tang. The leather scabbard is hand-stitched with reinforced corners. Nothing is stamped, cast, or laser-cut.

Hand-forged 5160 spring steel knives sit in a different price bracket than factory reproductions because they're built to be used and to last decades. Buyers who want the licensed Hibben Knives signed reproduction will appreciate that piece. Buyers who want a real hand-forged combat knife in the Last Blood design language will appreciate this.

Customise Your Rambo V Heartstopper

Every Rambo V Heartstopper is hand-forged to order in our Kathmandu workshop. Specify your customisations in the order notes at checkout.

Free Engraving (Up to 30 Characters)

Add a name, dates, military unit (USMC, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Special Forces), memorial dedication, family motto, or service inscription. Engraved on the blade flat at no extra charge. The Heartstopper is a popular choice for active-service personnel and recent retirees because the compact size means it can actually be carried as a service knife in many roles.

Custom Logo & Photo Engraving

Upload a custom logo, military unit insignia, photograph, or family crest at checkout for laser-engraved replication. Particularly suitable for Heartstopper given the modern tactical aesthetic — works well with contemporary unit insignias, special operations symbols, and personalised patch designs.

Blunted / Display Version

If you need a fully blunted version for cosplay, stage props, or shipping into countries that restrict sharp blades (Australia, UK, Germany, Japan), specify "blunted" in your order notes at checkout. Same visual appearance, no cutting edge or point. No extra charge for the blunt option.

Custom Modifications

Want a different handle material, blade finish, or specific design modifications? Use our Custom Forge service. Common Heartstopper customisations: blacked / coated tactical finish for the modern tactical aesthetic, alternative handle scales (bone, horn, micarta-style hardwood), or custom blade geometry. Custom orders start at $75 above base price and ship in 2–3 weeks.

The Heartstopper vs the Other Rambo Blades — How to Choose

Each Rambo film features a different blade design with different strengths. Here's how the Heartstopper compares.

vs Rambo Part One (10.5-inch First Blood survival blade): Both are compact knives at similar blade lengths, but very different design philosophies. The Part One is the 1982 First Blood survival knife — iconic 1980s aesthetic, leather-wrapped handle, designed for outdoor survival. The Heartstopper is the 2019 modern combat blade — contemporary aesthetic, polished rosewood handle, designed for close-quarters work. Choose based on era preference and aesthetic.

vs Rambo III Bowie (12-inch full-tang Bowie): The Rambo III is the iconic Rambo silhouette — the design most casual viewers picture when they think "Rambo's knife." Larger, heavier, more cinematic. The Heartstopper is more practical and modern, less imposing on display. Choose Rambo III if you want the cinematic Hibben Bowie; choose Heartstopper if you want the compact modern alternative.

vs Rambo IV Cleaver (13-inch chopping cleaver): Completely different tools. The Rambo IV is a chopping blade for heavy outdoor work. The Heartstopper is a compact combat knife for close work. Both are Hibben designs, but they serve totally different use cases. Choose Rambo IV for chopping/bushcraft; choose Heartstopper for compact carry and combat-style work.

For collectors completing the five-film series: The Heartstopper is essential. It's the only blade representing the 2019 final film in the franchise, and it's the most physically distinct Rambo design after the Rambo IV cleaver.

The 4-Step Forging Process

1

Steel Selection

5160 high carbon spring steel reclaimed from truck leaf springs. Cut to billet for your Heartstopper, sized for the compact combat geometry.

2

Hand Forging

Heated in a coal forge and shaped under the hammer. The compact combat profile and full tang are drawn from the same billet.

3

Water Temper

Quenched in water for edge hardness, then tempered for the right balance of edge retention and impact resistance.

4

Handle Fit & Finish

Rosewood handle hand-fitted and pinned through the full tang, then hand-polished. Engraving applied. Leather scabbard hand-stitched. Quality-checked before shipping.

Shipping. Worldwide via DHL Express and FedEx International with full tracking. Transit time 5–10 business days depending on country. Total time from order to delivery is typically 8–15 business days. The Heartstopper's compact 15.5-inch overall length makes it more importable into countries with fixed-blade restrictions than the larger Rambo knives — but check your local laws before ordering.

Returns. Not satisfied? Return within 30 days for full refund or free re-build to different specifications. We cover return shipping for craftsmanship defects.

Warranty. 6-month craftsmanship warranty against forging defects, handle separation, or scabbard failure under normal use. Edge damage from misuse, rust from neglect, and damage from non-cutting impacts are not covered. Full terms in our FAQ page.

Care & Maintenance

Oil the blade regularly. 5160 carbon steel will surface-rust if neglected. Wipe with mineral oil, gun oil, or food-grade camellia oil after every use and once a month during storage. The Heartstopper's compact size makes oiling fast — just wipe the blade flat and edge with a few drops of oil.

Care for the rosewood handle. Apply mineral oil or beeswax-based polish every 6–12 months and buff with a soft cloth. Prevents drying and helps the rosewood develop a richer patina with use. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme humidity.

Care for the leather scabbard. Condition with leather balm or beeswax every 3–6 months to prevent drying and cracking.

Sharpen with a whetstone. 1000/3000 grit at a 20–25 degree angle on the cutting edge.

Store properly. Sheathed in the leather scabbard or on a display stand. The compact 15.5-inch overall length fits standard knife display stands — unlike the 17-inch Part II or 19-inch Rambo IV which need oversized stands.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Rambo V "Heartstopper" knife?

The Rambo V knife (also called the Rambo Last Blood knife or "Heartstopper") is the compact combat blade John Rambo carried in Rambo: Last Blood (2019), the fifth and final film in the franchise. The original was designed by American master knifemaker Gil Hibben as a deliberate departure from the larger Rambo III Bowie and Rambo IV cleaver — a compact, brutally functional combat knife at 10 inches blade. Fans nicknamed it "the Heartstopper" for its surgical efficiency on screen, and the name has stuck. Our hand-forged tribute uses the same 10-inch combat blade silhouette in full-tang construction with polished rosewood handle.

Why is the Heartstopper called the Heartstopper?

"Heartstopper" is the fan nickname that emerged from the Rambo collector community after Last Blood released in 2019. The name reflects the knife's blunt, almost surgical efficiency on screen — where the earlier Rambo knives are dramatic survival Bowies built for cinema, the Last Blood knife is more compact, more direct, and more brutal in its on-screen use. The official Hibben Knives licensed reproduction sometimes uses "Heartstopper" branding, and it's the most common name among Rambo collectors today — more recognised than "Rambo V knife" in many enthusiast circles.

How is the Heartstopper different from the other Rambo knives?

The Heartstopper is the most distinct Rambo knife in the series. It's significantly smaller than every other Rambo blade — 10 inches blade vs 12 inches on Rambo III, 13 inches on Rambo IV, and 11.5 inches on the Part II. It's significantly lighter — 651 grams vs 929 grams (Rambo III), 1100 grams (Rambo IV), or 950 grams (Part II leather). It's the only modern (2019-era) Rambo design — the others are 1980s/2000s designs. It's the most carryable — legal for everyday carry in many jurisdictions where the larger Rambo knives are not. Choose the Heartstopper if you want practical compact carry; choose the larger Rambo knives if you want cinematic display presence.

Is this a licensed Rambo V replica?

No. This is an unofficial hand-forged tribute, not a licensed reproduction. The official film licence for the Rambo V Heartstopper is held by Hibben Knives (Gil Hibben's workshop). Their licensed Heartstopper is a machine-finished display piece typically priced $200–$400, often signed and serialised. We are not affiliated with Lions Gate, Millennium Films, MGM, Stallone, Hibben Knives, Gil Hibben, Master Cutlery, or United Cutlery. If you want a signed, serialised, film-authenticated Heartstopper for a serious collection — buy the Hibben Knives reproduction. If you want a real hand-forged working combat knife in the Heartstopper design language, this is the right tier.

What steel is the Heartstopper made of?

This Heartstopper is hand-forged from 5160 high carbon spring steel reclaimed from truck leaf springs. 5160 is the same steel used in heavy-duty automotive suspension systems — tough, shock-absorbing, and proven over decades of working stress. It's the steel of choice for hand-forged combat knives because it handles impact and lateral stress without cracking. After forging, blades are water-tempered for the right balance of edge hardness and impact resistance. It's not Damascus-pattern steel — we use single-billet 5160 because it's the better working choice for a real combat blade.

Can I actually carry this knife? Is it more practical than the bigger Rambo knives?

Yes — this is the most practical Rambo knife for actual carry. At 15.5 inches overall length, the Heartstopper falls within most jurisdictions' legal carry limits for fixed-blade knives, where the 17-inch Rambo Part II or 19-inch Rambo IV cleaver would not. At 651 grams, it's also light enough for genuine belt carry without becoming uncomfortable over a long day. Always check your local laws — fixed-blade carry rules vary significantly by country, state, and even city. Some jurisdictions still restrict any fixed-blade knife in public carry. The Heartstopper just gives you a much better chance of being within the rules than the larger Rambo blades do.

Why does the Heartstopper look more tactical and modern than the older Rambo knives?

The Heartstopper is the only Rambo knife designed in the modern tactical era. The 1982 First Blood and 1985 Mission II knives were designed by Jimmy Lile in the 1980s survival-knife aesthetic — leather-wrapped handles, sawback spines, hollow handles with compass and survival kit. The Rambo III (1988) and Rambo IV (2008) by Hibben kept similar visual language. By 2019, modern combat knife design had moved on. The Heartstopper reflects 30 years of military and tactical knife evolution — cleaner lines, more functional geometry, less "cinematic survival" look. If you find the older Rambo knives too dated and prefer a contemporary tactical aesthetic, the Heartstopper is the right choice.

Is the Rambo V Heartstopper full tang?

Yes — full tang construction. The 5160 spring steel runs as a single unbroken piece from the blade tip to the butt of the handle. The rosewood scales are pinned through the steel tang for maximum structural strength. Full tang is essential for a combat knife — partial tangs and rat-tail tangs fail under the lateral stress that combat-style use puts on the blade-handle junction. Hibben designed the Heartstopper as a full-tang from the start, recognising that the compact form factor demanded uncompromised tang construction.

Who designed the Rambo V Heartstopper?

The Rambo V Heartstopper was designed by Gil Hibben, a Kentucky-based American master knifemaker and member of the Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame. Hibben designed all the post-Lile Rambo knives — the iconic Rambo III Bowie (1988), the Rambo IV cleaver (2008), and the Rambo V Last Blood Heartstopper (2019). The Heartstopper was Hibben's final Rambo design and represents over 30 years of refinement in his approach to film survival knives. For the full design history, read The History of the Rambo Knife.

Can I get the Heartstopper with a black tactical finish like Hibben's licensed reproduction?

Yes — through our Custom Forge service. The default Everest Forge Heartstopper ships with a polished blade finish that shows the natural quality of hand-forged 5160 steel. If you want the blacked / coated tactical finish that matches the Hibben Knives licensed reproduction's modern aesthetic, request it through Custom Forge — we can apply a matte black coating to the blade for a more tactical look. Custom Forge orders start at $75 above base price and ship in 2–3 weeks.

Can I customise this Heartstopper with military insignia or memorial engraving?

Yes — the Heartstopper is particularly popular for active-service personnel and recent retirees because the compact size means it can actually be carried as a service knife in many roles. Common requests we've fulfilled: USMC, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Special Forces unit insignia, memorial dedications with KIA dates, retirement gifts with service dates, names, family mottos, and family crests. Up to 30 characters of text engraving included free. For custom logos, photographs, or complex artwork, upload your file at checkout. The Heartstopper's modern aesthetic works particularly well with contemporary military unit insignias and special operations symbols.

Is the Rambo V Heartstopper sharp out of the box?

Yes — every Heartstopper ships with a sharpened working edge ready for use. For a blunted display version (cosplay, stage props, or shipping into countries that restrict sharp blades), specify "blunted" in your order notes at checkout. Same visual appearance, no cutting edge or point. No extra charge for the blunt option. The compact size means even the blunted version is one of the most carryable Rambo display pieces.

Do you ship the Rambo V Heartstopper worldwide?

Yes — worldwide shipping via DHL Express and FedEx International with full tracking. Forging takes 3–5 business days; custom engraving may add 2–3 days; international delivery takes 5–10 business days. Total time from order to delivery is typically 8–15 business days. The Heartstopper's compact 15.5-inch overall length makes it more importable than the larger Rambo knives — many countries that restrict 17"+ fixed blades will allow the Heartstopper through customs. Always verify your local laws before ordering. Contact us if unsure. For restricted regions, the blunted version may be importable where the sharpened version is not.

Can I see what other Rambo knives Everest Forge offers?

Yes — the complete Rambo Series Knives collection covers all five films. The Rambo III Bowie is the most iconic Rambo blade. The Rambo IV cleaver is the heavy chopping tool. The Rambo Part One and Part II represent the original 1980s First Blood era. For the historical background, read The History of the Rambo Knife. For technical comparison of blade types, read The Ultimate Guide to Rambo Knife Blade Types and Grip Designs.
