The Everest Forge Reborn Bronze Sword is a modern revival of the Bronze Age leaf blade — the broad, wide-bellied form of the earliest swords, reborn in steel and dressed up. Its standout is the blade itself: a multi-fullered leaf blade with several parallel fullers running its length, set behind a polished steel crescent guard and a contoured rosewood grip. Hand-forged in Kathmandu by Nepalese master smiths from 5160 high carbon spring steel, oil-tempered, full-tang, and finished with a handmade leather scabbard with decorative metal mounts. Available in seven blade lengths from 18 to 30 inches — built for collectors, reenactors, cutting practice, and lovers of ancient history.

This isn't a wall-hanger. It is a real functional sword built to the same standards as our hand-forged gladii and kukris — 5160 spring steel, full-tang, sharpened to a working edge. Where most of our bronze blades are water-quenched, the Reborn is oil-tempered for a slightly tougher, more flexible temper, and the fullered blade keeps the weight balanced for its size. Elegant and perfectly balanced, it is the dressed-up centrepiece of the Bronze Age range.

Slight variations in weight, dimensions, grain or finish may occur due to the handmade nature of the item. It is live, sharpened, full-tang steel intended for collecting, display, and cutting practice — not for edge-on-edge contact sparring or LARP.

A Modern Revival of the Bronze Age Leaf Sword

Long before iron, the Bronze Age gave the world its first true swords — broad, wide-bellied leaf blades carried from Mycenaean Greece to the Hittite empire and across the Mediterranean. The Naue II pattern that spread after 1300 BCE became the closest thing the age had to a standard sword.

The Reborn Bronze Sword takes that ancient silhouette and reinterprets it as a modern bronze sword in forged steel. If you have searched for a modern bronze sword or a dressed-up Bronze Age blade, this is the one — the leaf form kept faithful, but elevated with a fullered blade, a steel crescent guard and decorative scabbard mounts. It is clearly distinct from the straight iron blades of the later Celtic La Tène era.

Hand-Forged Sword vs Decorative Wall-Hanger

Search for a Bronze Age sword online and you will find two very different types of product:

Type 1: mass-produced decorative replicas. Stamped or cast soft metal, often stainless, with hollow or rat-tail tangs, no real edge, no customisation. They look like display pieces but will not stand up to real handling.

Care & Maintenance

After every use: wipe the blade clean and dry, then apply a thin coat of light oil (mineral oil, camellia oil, or 3-in-1 oil).

Guard and metal mounts: wipe the steel crescent guard and the scabbard mounts with a soft cloth to keep them clean and bright.

Storage: store in a dry environment. Avoid long-term storage inside the leather scabbard. A display stand or wall mount is recommended.

Rust spots: light surface rust is normal on 5160 carbon steel and is easily removed with very fine steel wool (grade 0000) and a few drops of oil.

Sharpening: use a quality whetstone at 22 to 25 degrees per side. Avoid power grinders, which can ruin the temper.
