Broad, Reinforced Blade with Straight Quillons for Late Medieval Combat
The Late Medieval Crossguard Dagger shown here is inspired by European fighting daggers of the 14th–15th century, designed for close-quarters combat where strength, control, and reliable thrusting performance were essential. This form reflects a practical battlefield sidearm rather than a decorative piece.
From the photo, the dagger features a broad blade base with a reinforced, diamond-style cross section that tapers cleanly to a sharp point. This geometry provides excellent rigidity and durability, making the blade well suited for thrust-oriented use while maintaining structural strength. The polished finish highlights the clean forging lines and traditional proportions.
A straight steel crossguard (quillons) offers effective hand protection during use, while the hardwood handle is shaped for a secure, balanced grip and finished with a polished steel pommel. The leather-covered wooden scabbard completes the dagger, maintaining historical authenticity and providing safe carry and storage.
