Custom South Indian Aruval Machete – Black Finish Blade with Tamil Engraving

This custom-forged South Indian Aruval machete is crafted as a traditional ceremonial and cultural blade, inspired by the iconic curved sickle-style weapons used across Tamil Nadu. Designed as a meaningful wedding gift, this piece combines heritage craftsmanship with personalized engraving, making it both a symbolic and functional creation.

Forged by skilled artisans, the blade features a distinctive forward-curving profile, optimized for controlled cutting and display. The blackened finish enhances its visual depth while also offering resistance to corrosion. Built with a traditional rat-tail tang construction, the machete maintains authenticity while remaining lightweight and well-balanced for handling.

The long joint wood handle ensures a secure grip and traditional aesthetic, complemented by iron fittings for durability. Each piece is handmade to order, and custom engraving in Tamil script is carefully applied near the blade’s base, making every piece unique to its owner.

Crafting Process

Each Aruval machete is hand forged using traditional techniques. The blade is shaped, heat-treated, and finished by hand to achieve the desired curvature and balance. The blackened finish is applied through controlled treatment to enhance both appearance and durability.

Once forged, the handle is fitted using a traditional rat-tail tang method, ensuring an authentic build. The scabbard is handcrafted from wood and wrapped in leather, then finished with a decorative chape to match the overall design.
