Hand-Forged to Military Specification
Every blade in this collection is forged from 5160 high-carbon spring steel — sourced from truck leaf-spring stock, the same material traditional Nepali Kamis have used for generations. Each kukri is water-tempered for a hard cutting edge backed by a tough, flexible spine, then sharpened to a working military edge.
These are battle-ready blades, not wall hangers. The Service No.1 we forge today is built to the same specification we delivered under our 2008 British Gurkha Army contract. The Nepal Army and Nepal Police kukris match the patterns we supplied under our 2015–2018 and 2016–2017 contracts respectively.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the official British Gurkha Army issue kukri?
The official issue blade for the British Gurkha Army is the Service No.1 Kukri (BSI), a 10.5-inch hand-forged kukri given to every Gurkha soldier on enlistment. Everest Forge supplied this exact pattern to the British Gurkha Army in 2008 — the kukris in our Service No.1 collection are forged to that same specification.
What's the difference between Service No.1 and Service No.2?
The Service No.1 is the working/duty kukri issued to Gurkha soldiers — designed for combat, training, and field use. The Service No.2 is the ceremonial version, traditionally used for parades and dress occasions. Both are hand-forged to military pattern; the Service No.2 has a more polished finish and traditional buffalo horn fittings for ceremonial presentation.
Are these the same kukris carried by Gurkha soldiers today?
Yes. The Service No.1, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Afghan, and Iraqi pattern kukris in this collection are forged to the same specifications as the blades currently issued and operationally carried by Gurkha soldiers and Nepalese armed forces. Everest Forge has supplied official kukris to the British Gurkha Army (2008), Nepal Army (2015–2018), and Nepal Police (2016–2017) under contract.
Do you forge Indian Gorkha regimental kukris?
Yes — we forge Indian Gorkha regimental kukris on a custom basis. Indian Gorkha patterns are not currently held in stock, but our Kami blacksmiths can hand-forge any Indian Gorkha regimental design to your specifications. Send us regimental badge details, photos, or a sketch through our Custom Forge page.
Do you forge Singapore Gurkha (SPFGC) kukris?
Yes — we can hand-forge kukris to Singapore Police Force Gurkha Contingent (SPFGC) patterns on a custom basis. Send us specifications, regimental details, or photos through our Custom Forge page and our blacksmiths will forge it to your requirements.
What is the Afghan Issue Kukri (AEOF)?
The Afghan Issue Kukri is the operational kukri carried by Gurkha soldiers deployed to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom (AEOF). It features a gripper handle for secure grip in dry, dusty desert conditions and a semi-polished 11-inch blade designed for the Afghan operational environment. Available in white and red sheath variants.
What is the Iraqi Issue Kukri (OIF)?
The Iraqi Issue Kukri is the operational pattern carried by Gurkha soldiers during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). Based on the traditional Panawal Angkhola profile, this 10–11 inch kukri was adapted for desert combat and utility use. Available in standard, gripper handle, and camouflage variants.
What is the Jungle PRI Kukri?
The Jungle PRI Kukri is the official training and jungle warfare kukri of the British Gurkha regiment. Issued for rigorous field exercises and jungle warfare training, it features a 10.25-inch semi-polished hand-forged carbon steel blade with a horn handle.
Are these kukris battle-ready?
Yes. Every kukri in this collection is forged to the same military specification we used for our British Gurkha Army, Nepal Army, and Nepal Police supply contracts. Water-tempered 5160 spring steel, sharpened to a working military edge, full tang or stick tang construction depending on the model. These are working military blades, not display replicas.
Can I get my kukri engraved with my regiment or service number?
Yes — engraving is free on every blade. We can hand-engrave your name, regiment, service number, dedication, or unit motto on the blade or scabbard before shipping. We send photos for your approval before the kukri leaves the workshop. This is especially popular for retirement gifts, presentation kukris, and regimental keepsakes.
Do you ship military kukris to the UK, USA, and Australia?
Yes — we ship worldwide. UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Germany, and most of the EU have established DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) shipping routes, meaning duties and taxes are handled upfront with no customs surprises on delivery. Total transit is typically 10–14 days door to door.
Can you forge a custom regimental kukri?
Yes. We can hand-forge any British Gurkha, Nepal Army, Indian Gorkha, or Singapore Gurkha regimental pattern — including dress kukris with regimental badges, retirement Kothimora kukris, and historical patterns from earlier service periods. Send us specifications, photos, or a sketch through our Custom Forge page and our blacksmiths will forge it to your exact requirements.
