The Royal Sword of Narnia — Hand-Forged with the Aslan Lion-Head Pommel
The Chronicles of Narnia Prince Sword is the royal blade of Narnia — the long, straight longsword crowned by the gold-cast Aslan lion-head pommel that marks every king and queen of Aslan's realm. Carried by High King Peter as Rhindon in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Carried by King Caspian X in Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The same royal sword design, passed across centuries of Narnian kingship, marked always by the same symbol: the lion who is the true king of Narnia.
This is the Everest Forge hand-forged interpretation. Not a stainless wall-display piece, not a zinc alloy gold-plated mass-market replica — a real 5160 high-carbon spring steel longsword, hand-forged in Kathmandu, Nepal, full-tang, water-tempered, and built to a 34-inch blade with the lion-head pommel cast and finished by hand. Customisable across 9 blade lengths from 20" to 36", with leather scabbard and handle-wrap colours of your choice. Free engraving — perfect for Narnia mottos, character names, or the lion sigil.
What Makes This Narnia Sword Different
The Narnia sword market splits into three tiers. Each has its place — but each makes a trade-off you should understand before buying.
- Mass-market stainless replicas ($50-$200) — Amazon, eBay, Etsy resellers, Sword Slice, Medieval Depot. Stainless steel blade with zinc alloy gold-plated hilt, polished decorative finish, blunted, often shipped from overseas dropshippers. Good for wall display; not built to last beyond it.
- Premium gold-edition stainless ($150-$300) — Sword Slice "Gold Edition", branded Narnia replicas. Better build quality, gold-finish lion pommel, polished mirror blade, decorative wooden plaque. Still stainless, still decorative-only.
- Theatrical artisan custom ($1,500+) — Belsky Stageswords, custom one-off bastard swords for stage productions and fight choreography. Beautiful, one-off, expensive, and only made for working theatre.
- Everest Forge Narnia Prince Sword ($324.99) — hand-forged 5160 high-carbon spring steel, full-tang, water-tempered, sharpened to a working edge by default, with nine blade lengths, six scabbard colours, and six handle-wrap colours. Free engraving. The premium hand-forged functional option, customisable to your build.
You're not buying the cheapest Narnia sword. You're not buying the most expensive theatrical custom. You're buying the one that's actually a forged sword.
The Aslan Lion-Head Pommel — The Crown of Narnia
The lion-head pommel is the visual signature of Narnian kingship. In the Walden Media films, both High King Peter's Rhindon and King Caspian X's sword carry the same design: a fully-cast lion's head pommel, wreathed in a golden mane, eyes fixed forward in the proud stance of Aslan himself. The grip is wrapped in dark leather; the long, straight blade extends in the European arming-sword tradition. The cross-guard is finished in gold, often with subtle decorative flourishes.
Our hand-forged version follows this design: a hand-cast lion-head pommel finished in gold tone, leather-wrapped 13-inch handle, gold-toned cross-guard, and the long straight blade in our signature 5160 spring steel. Not painted, not plastic — actual cast metal, hand-finished and assembled into a working full-tang sword. The lion looks the way he's supposed to look on the wall above the fireplace, and reads correctly when held in hand at a Narnia-themed convention or photoshoot.
Built to the Lore — The High King's Sword
Peter the High King — Rhindon and Father Christmas's Gift
In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Father Christmas gives Peter his sword and shield: "These are tools, not toys. Bear them well." The sword Peter receives is named Rhindon, and he carries it through the Battle of Beruna, the slaying of the wolf Maugrim, and the long Golden Age of Narnia under the Four Thrones at Cair Paravel. For book and film fans alike, Rhindon is the iconic Narnian sword — the gift to the rightful High King, the blade that strikes down Aslan's enemies, the symbol of the Pevensie children's place in Narnian destiny.
The lion-head pommel marks Rhindon as Aslan's gift through Father Christmas — the mane and the head are the same gold-cast design our blade carries.
Caspian X — The Royal Sword Returns
Centuries later, in Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the royal sword passes to Caspian X — the rightful king of Narnia, who reclaims his throne with the help of the original Pevensie children returned to Narnia from England. Caspian's sword carries the same lion-head pommel design — the visual continuity of Narnian kingship across the centuries. When Caspian eventually sails to the World's End on the Dawn Treader, the sword goes with him.
The Lion Sigil and Aslan's Crown
In Narnia, the lion is not just an animal symbol — Aslan is the lion who is the true king, the son of the Emperor-over-the-Sea, the deeper magic of the world. Every Narnian monarch carries the lion sigil because every Narnian monarch rules under Aslan's blessing. The lion-head pommel on Peter's Rhindon and on Caspian's sword is not heraldry — it is acknowledgement. The king holds the sword; Aslan holds the king.
What Makes This Hand-Forged Narnia Sword Different
- 5160 high-carbon spring steel blade — recycled from truck leaf springs. Tough, flexible, takes a real working edge. Same steel used across our battle-ready historical longswords.
- Hand-cast Aslan lion-head pommel — finished in gold tone, hand-mounted. Not plastic, not stamped, not laser-etched.
- Hand-forged in Kathmandu, Nepal — by master smiths working in the same forges that produce our LOTR, Predator, GoT, and Arthurian blades. Each sword carries small hand-finished details no factory replica can reproduce.
- Full-tang construction — single continuous piece of steel from tip to pommel. The handle scales are pinned through the tang.
- Water-tempered — heat-treated for hardness with controlled flexibility. The blade flexes under pressure rather than snapping.
- 34-inch straight European arming-sword profile — long, straight, true to the screen-prop dimensions used in the Walden Media films.
- 13-inch leather-wrapped rosewood handle — solid rosewood core with leather wrap exterior, fitted for two-handed grip with single-handed flexibility. Handle wrap colour customisable to six leather options.
- Leather-wrapped wooden scabbard — fitted to the blade, with brass throat and chape. Six leather colour options.
- 9 blade length options — from 20" arming-sword profile to 36" longsword. Most licensed and mass-market replicas are fixed at one length only.
- Free engraving — Narnia mottos ("Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen of Narnia"), character names (Peter, Caspian, Edmund), the lion sigil, or your own image. Free with order.
- Cosplay & convention safe — request a blunted edge in your order notes and the same blade ships convention-ready.

Customise Your Narnia Prince Sword
Every Narnia Prince Sword is forged to order. Use the option menus above the Add to Cart button to configure your sword:
- Blade Finishing — Satin (default), Polished/Mirror (+$15, brightest finish closest to film appearance), Raw/Forge Finish (–$15, darker working look), or Blacked/Coated. Polished suits display setups; satin suits cosplay and convention use.
- Blade Length — Nine options from 20" (compact arming-sword profile, –$110) to 36" (full longsword, +$35). The 34" default is the screen-faithful proportion. 24"–28" works well for younger cosplayers or compact display setups.
- Scabbard Colour — Black, Brown, Yellow, Red, Green, or Blue leather. Brown is the film-faithful default; gold-toned options are not standard but can be approximated with brown finishes.
- Handle Wrap Colour — Black, Brown, Red, Yellow, Green, or Blue leather. Brown wrap is the film-accurate choice; red can suit House Pevensie themed builds.
- Personalisation — add a name, Narnia motto, character name, or short message engraved on the blade. Free with order. Popular: "For Narnia and for Aslan", "Once a king or queen of Narnia...", individual character names (Peter, Susan, Edmund, Lucy, Caspian).
- Custom Logo or Photo Engraving — upload your own image for engraving. The Narnian lion sigil is the most-requested image. Free with order.
If you want a Narnia Prince Sword built outside these standard options — different blade geometry, brass fittings, hand-tooled scabbard with Aslan motifs, full custom forge — the Custom Forge service can build it from your reference image or specification.
Built For
- Chronicles of Narnia book and film collectors — for buyers building a complete Narnia collection. Pairs with horns of Susan, daggers of Lucy, and other Narnian armament if expanded.
- Peter Pevensie / High King Peter cosplay — Rhindon is the high-profile cosplay sword for any Pevensie costume build. Add "Blunt edge for cosplay" for safe convention carry.
- Prince Caspian / Caspian X cosplay — same lion-pommel royal-sword design. Caspian-style build pairs the sword with red-leather wrap and brown scabbard.
- Christian fantasy & allegory collectors — Narnia's deeper meaning attracts a serious audience. The lion-head pommel as Aslan's symbol resonates with this collector base.
- Display & collection — the gold-finish lion pommel and long straight blade reads beautifully on a wall mount or in a glass display case. Pairs with our wooden display stands.
- Reenactment & medieval longsword practice — full-tang 5160 spring steel handles light-to-moderate cutting practice. Real working sword build, not a wall-display piece.
- Gift — leather-wrapped scabbard, free engraving, lion-head pommel, and the universal recognition of the Narnia universe make this one of our most-requested gift swords. Particularly popular for Christian-school graduates and adult Narnia readers.
Cosplay, Conventions & LARP
The Narnia royal sword is a popular cosplay piece for Comic-Con, fantasy festivals, Narnia-themed events, and homeschool/Christian-school costume contests. Most events require blunt edges for safety and weapon-policy compliance.
You don't need a separate cosplay version. Just add "Blunt edge for cosplay" in the order notes when you check out, and our smiths will ship the blade convention-ready — same forged steel, same lion-head pommel, same full-tang, just a rounded edge instead of a working one. Always confirm your specific event's weapon-policy beforehand. If you decide later you want a working edge, any competent sharpener can do it.
Pair with Our Other Movie Sword Replicas

Care & Maintenance
5160 spring steel is high-carbon and will rust if neglected. With basic care it will outlive you. After handling, wipe the blade down with a soft cloth, apply a thin coat of mineral or camellia oil, and store the sword in its leather scabbard or on a display stand. The lion-head pommel is gold-tone finished — clean with a soft, dry cloth only; avoid abrasive cleaners that may strip the finish. The leather wrap on the handle should be conditioned periodically with leather conditioner. The blade can be re-sharpened by any competent knife or sword sharpener.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Peter's sword Rhindon, or Prince Caspian's sword?
Both. The Aslan lion-head pommel is the design used by Narnian royal swords across the Walden Media film series — High King Peter's Rhindon in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and King Caspian X's sword in Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Our hand-forged interpretation matches the visual signature of both. With our customisation options, you can configure the sword for either character build: Brown leather wrap and brown scabbard for Peter's Rhindon; red wrap with brown scabbard for Caspian's; or any other combination from our six-colour leather range.
Why is the lion-head pommel important to the Narnia universe?
In Narnia, the lion is Aslan — the son of the Emperor-over-the-Sea, the true king of Narnia, the deeper magic of the world. Every monarch crowned in Narnia rules under Aslan's blessing, and the lion-head pommel on the royal sword is the symbol of that bond. It is not heraldic decoration — it is the acknowledgement that the king holds the sword and Aslan holds the king. For book fans, this carries the deeper Christian-allegory meaning C.S. Lewis built into the series; for film fans, it is the visual continuity that ties Peter's reign in 1000+ years past to Caspian's reign in the present.
How does this compare to Sword Slice or the eBay/Etsy stainless replicas?
Different products for different buyers. The mass-market stainless replicas ($50-$200) and Sword Slice's "Gold Edition" ($150-$300) are decorative pieces — stainless steel blades, zinc alloy gold-plated hilts, blunted, designed for wall display. Beautiful but not functional. The Everest Forge Narnia Prince Sword at $324.99 is hand-forged from real 5160 high-carbon spring steel, full-tang, sharpened to a working edge, with a hand-cast lion-head pommel. We're the premium hand-forged functional option, customisable across 9 blade lengths and 6 leather colours. Mass-market gives you a wall piece; we give you a sword.
Is the blade actually sharp and battle-ready?
Yes by default. The blade ships with a working sharpened edge. The 5160 spring steel is the same material we use for our battle-ready historical longswords — water-tempered, full-tang, capable of real cutting practice and reenactment use. If you want a display-only version with a blunt edge, request "Blunt edge for cosplay" in your order notes at checkout.
How long is the Narnia Prince Sword?
The default configuration is a 34-inch blade with a 13-inch handle, totalling approximately 47 inches overall. The blade length is customisable across nine options from 20" (compact arming-sword profile) to 36" (full longsword). The 34" default is the screen-faithful proportion; shorter sizes (20"-26") work well for younger cosplayers or compact display setups; longer sizes read dramatic on wall mounts.
Can I get the Narnia lion sigil or a Narnia motto engraved on the blade?
Yes. We include free personalisation and engraving with every order. The Narnia lion sigil is one of our most-requested engravings — upload an image file via the Custom Logo option at checkout. We also engrave Narnia mottos ("For Narnia and for Aslan", "Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen of Narnia"), individual character names (Peter, Susan, Edmund, Lucy, Caspian), or any text or image you specify. All free with order.
Can I customise the colours to match Peter or Caspian specifically?
Yes. Six handle wrap colours and six scabbard colours, available in any combination. Brown wrap with a brown scabbard is the closest match to Peter's Rhindon as it appears in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Red wrap with brown scabbard suits a Caspian X build from Prince Caspian. Whatever combination matches your collection or character build, choose from any of the six options.
How long does the order take to ship?
Standard configurations typically ship within 5 to 10 business days. Heavily customised builds — non-standard blade lengths, deep engraving, the Narnia lion sigil, custom photo engraving — usually take 3 to 5 weeks because each piece is forged to order. Worldwide shipping is via DHL or FedEx with full tracking.
Will the blade rust? How do I look after it?
5160 spring steel is high-carbon and not stainless — it will rust if neglected. With basic care it will outlast you. Wipe the blade clean after handling, apply a thin coat of mineral or camellia oil, and store in the leather scabbard or on a display stand. The gold-tone lion-head pommel should be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth only; avoid abrasive cleaners that may strip the finish. The leather wrap on the handle should be conditioned periodically.
