Bronze Age Sword Replica — Hand-Forged Leaf Blade with a Round Pommel
The Everest Forge Bronze Age Sword Replica is a hand-forged recreation of the earliest swords humankind ever made — the broad leaf-shaped blade of the Late Bronze Age, wide through the belly and tapering to a fine point, with a raised central ridge for stiffness. Hand-forged in Kathmandu by Nepalese master smiths from 5160 high carbon spring steel (recycled truck leaf-spring stock), water-tempered, full-tang. A 24-inch leaf blade, a rosewood hilt finished with a heavy round pommel, and a leather-wrapped wooden scabbard. Available in seven blade lengths from 18 to 30 inches — built for collectors, reenactors, cutting practice, and lovers of ancient history.
This isn't a wall-hanger. It is a real functional sword built to the same standards as our hand-forged gladii and kukris — 5160 spring steel, water-quenched, full-tang, sharpened to a working edge. The round pommel counterweights the broad leaf blade for a confident feel in the hand, while the forward-weighted leaf profile keeps real cutting power. Whether you are building an ancient-arms collection, kitting out for early-history reenactment, or simply want the dawn of the sword in steel you can handle, the Bronze Age Sword Replica delivers the look of the Bronze Age and real performance.
Note: This is a historically inspired original Everest Forge design in a Bronze Age leaf form — forged from 5160 high carbon steel, not cast bronze, and not an antique. Slight variations in weight, dimensions, grain or finish may occur due to the handmade nature of the item. It is live, sharpened, full-tang steel intended for collecting, display, and cutting practice — not for edge-on-edge contact sparring or LARP.

Customise Your Bronze Age Sword → Ask a Question →A Sword from the Dawn of the Metal Age
Long before iron, the Bronze Age gave the world its first true swords. From Mycenaean Greece to the Hittite empire and across the Mediterranean, warriors carried leaf-shaped blades — wide-bellied, double-tapered, built for the cut — that were tools, status symbols and grave goods all at once. The Naue II pattern that spread after 1300 BCE became the closest thing the age had to a standard sword.
The Bronze Age Sword Replica carries that lineage. If you have searched for a bronze age sword, a bronze age sword replica, or an ancient leaf blade, this is the broad early sword you were picturing — reborn as functional steel and finished with a heavy round pommel. The leaf profile with its raised central ridge is faithful to the Bronze Age form, and clearly distinct from the straight iron blades of the later Celtic La Tène era.
Our hand-forged version honours the spirit of the early metal-age smith rather than copying a museum cast. The 24-inch standard blade has real reach and presence, while remaining a fully functional 5160 spring steel sword.
Why This Bronze Age Sword Stands Apart
Authentic Leaf Geometry
Wide through the belly, double-tapered, with a raised central ridge — the profile that gave Bronze Age blades their cutting authority and stiffness.
Round Pommel Balance
A heavy round pommel counterweights the broad blade, bringing the balance point back toward the hand for control.
5160 Spring Steel
Recycled truck leaf-spring stock — the same high carbon steel professional bladesmiths use for functional swords. Water-tempered.
Full-Tang Construction
A single piece of steel from blade tip through the grip — no welded joints to fail under stress.
7 Blade Lengths
Choose from 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, or 30 inches. Match your purpose — display, reenactment, or cutting practice.
Personalisation Included
Add your name, initials, a date, or a motif to the blade. Standard engraving included at no extra charge.

Hand-Forged Sword vs Decorative Wall-Hanger
Search for a Bronze Age sword online and you will find two very different types of product:
Type 1: mass-produced decorative replicas. Stamped or cast soft metal, often stainless, with hollow or rat-tail tangs, no real edge, no customisation. They look like display pieces but will not stand up to real handling.
Type 2 (this one): a genuine hand-forged sword in real 5160 spring steel, full-tang, water-tempered, customisable across seven blade lengths. Built to the same standards as our hand-forged Roman gladii and Nepalese kukris, forged by Nepalese master smiths and made to order.
The difference is fundamental: this is a real sword, not a decoration. Cared for properly, it will outlast any wall-hanger replica by decades.
The Complete Bronze Age Sword Collection
The Bronze Age Sword Replica is part of our hand-forged Bronze Age collection — leaf-shaped early metal-age blades, each forged from 5160 spring steel and finished by hand.
Reborn Bronze Sword
A modern revival of the Bronze Age leaf blade in 5160 spring steel — faithful in form, far tougher in metal.
Bronze Age Leaf Blade
A clean leaf-shaped sword with a whitewood handle — the simplest, most direct expression of the form.
Hand-and-a-Half Leaf Blade
A longer leaf blade with an extended grip and an etched fuller, built for two-handed control and presence.

Heated in a coal forge and hammered by hand to draw out the leaf belly, double taper and raised central ridge.
03
Heat Treatment
Water-quenched and tempered for a hard, keen edge and a tough, resilient spine.

Ground and sharpened. The rosewood grip and round pommel are fitted, and the leather-wrapped wooden scabbard is hand-stitched.

Care & Maintenance
After every use: wipe the blade clean and dry, then apply a thin coat of light oil (mineral oil, camellia oil, or 3-in-1 oil).
Storage: store in a dry environment. Avoid long-term storage inside the leather scabbard. A display stand or wall mount is recommended.
Rust spots: light surface rust is normal on 5160 carbon steel and is easily removed with very fine steel wool (grade 0000) and a few drops of oil.
Sharpening: use a quality whetstone at 22 to 25 degrees per side. Avoid power grinders, which can ruin the temper.

Is this Bronze Age sword made of real bronze?
No — and we are upfront about that. It is forged from 5160 high carbon spring steel in the shape of a Bronze Age leaf blade. We use steel because it is far tougher than cast bronze and can take real cutting practice. You get the authentic form and balance, not a fragile bronze casting or an antique.
What does the leaf-shaped blade do?
The leaf shape is wide through the centre and tapers toward both the hilt and the point, concentrating mass forward for powerful cuts while keeping a usable point. The raised central ridge stiffens the blade — an authentic Bronze Age detail.
How strong were bronze swords compared to this one?
Historical bronze swords were effective but soft by modern standards — they bent and dulled, and were usually cast rather than forged. This replica keeps the same shape but is forged from 5160 spring steel and heat-treated, so it is dramatically stronger and tougher than any original bronze blade.
What blade lengths can I order?
The standard build is 24 inches, and the length menu offers 18, 20, 22, 26, 28, and 30 inches. Choose the size that suits your reach, your cutting needs, or your display space.
Is the blade sharpened and functional?
Yes. It is heat-treated and sharpened, with a full-tang build, and is made for cutting practice, reenactment handling and display — not as a soft display casting. It is not intended for edge-on-edge contact sparring or LARP.
What are the handle and pommel made of?
The grip is shaped from rosewood as standard, with white-wood (sadhan) available as an option, and it is finished with a heavy round pommel that balances the blade toward the hand.
What blade finishes are available?
You can choose Satin, Polished or Mirror, Raw or Forge, or Blacked or Coated. Satin is the everyday classic, polished gives a bright sheen, raw keeps the forged texture, and blacked adds a dark coated finish.
Does it come with a scabbard?
Yes. Each sword ships with a fitted scabbard — a wooden core wrapped in leather — and you choose the colour from black, brown, yellow, red, or blue when you order.
Can I personalise or engrave the sword?
Yes. You can add a name, initials, a date, or a short motto, or upload a logo or photo for custom engraving. Standard engraving is included at no extra charge. For a fully bespoke build, use our Custom Forge service.
How heavy is the sword?
The standard 24-inch build weighs approximately 950 grams. As every sword is handcrafted, the exact weight varies slightly from piece to piece.
How is this different from your Celtic Leaf and La Tène swords?
This is a Bronze Age leaf form — the early cast-and-leaf shape of the metal age. Our Celtic Leaf and La Tène swords are later Iron Age Celtic blades with different, mostly straight iron-age geometry. If you want the earliest leaf-shaped sword, this is the one.
How is the sword shipped, and do you ship to the US?
It ships worldwide from our forge in Kathmandu with full tracking on a DDP basis, meaning duties and taxes are prepaid before it leaves Nepal. You receive your sword with nothing further to pay on delivery, including in the United States.
