The Sword of Boromir — 22-Inch Hand-Forged Lord of the Rings Replica with Customizable Blade Length

The Everest Forge Sword of Boromir is a hand-forged tribute to the iconic blade carried by Boromir, son of Denethor II, Captain of the White Tower of Gondor, in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Hand-forged in Kathmandu by Nepalese master smiths from 5160 high carbon spring steel (recycled truck leaf-spring stock), water-tempered, full-tang construction. 22-inch straight double-edge blade, 8-inch rosewood handle with leather wrap, leather-wrapped wooden scabbard. Total length 30 inches, weight 904 grams. Available in six blade lengths from 18 to 28 inches — perfect for collectors, cosplayers, reenactors, and Tolkien fans alike.

This isn't a costume prop. It's a real functional sword built to the same standards as our combat-grade gladii and kukris — hand-forged 5160 spring steel, water-quenched, full-tang, sharpened to a working edge. Whether you're building a complete Fellowship-of-the-Ring weapons collection, recreating Boromir's last stand at Amon Hen, or simply honouring one of the most tragic and noble heroes of Middle-earth, this Gondorian sword delivers both cinematic presence and real-world performance.

Note: This is an unofficial, hand-forged tribute / fan creation inspired by the Sword of Boromir as depicted in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001–2003). Slight variations in weight, dimensions, or finish may occur due to the handmade nature of the item. Not affiliated with or endorsed by New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Entertainment, the J.R.R. Tolkien Estate, or any other rights holder of the Lord of the Rings franchise.

Boromir, Son of Denethor — Captain of Gondor

Boromir, son of Denethor II, was the eldest son of the Steward of Gondor and the Captain of the White Tower — one of the most respected warriors in all of Middle-earth at the time of the War of the Ring. Played by Sean Bean in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Boromir is one of the original nine members of the Fellowship of the Ring, sworn to protect Frodo Baggins on the journey to destroy the One Ring at Mount Doom.

Boromir's sword is a Gondorian longsword — a straight, double-edged blade designed for the disciplined infantry combat practiced by the descendants of Numenor. The fittings reflect the heraldry of Gondor: the white tree, the seven stars, and the noble simplicity that defined the kingdom's high warrior tradition. Throughout the films, Boromir wields this sword in some of the trilogy's most memorable battles — including the Mines of Moria, the journey down the Anduin, and his final stand at Amon Hen, where he died defending Merry and Pippin from the Uruk-hai.

Our hand-forged replica honours both the cinematic version and the deeper Gondorian sword tradition rooted in Tolkien's lore. The 22-inch standard blade matches the on-screen sword's proportions while remaining a fully functional 5160 spring steel weapon.

Hand-Forged vs Movie Prop Decoration

Search "Boromir sword replica" online and you'll find two types:

Type 1: Licensed movie merchandise replicas. Mass-produced stainless steel, plastic-style handles, no real edge, no customisation. Manufactured under licensing deals. Look like display pieces but won't withstand actual use.

Type 2 (this one): A genuine hand-forged sword in real 5160 spring steel, full-tang construction, water-tempered, customisable in six blade lengths. Built to the same standards as our combat-grade Roman gladii and Nepalese kukris. Forged by Nepalese master smiths, made-to-order, fully functional.

The price difference reflects the fundamental difference: this is a real sword, not a film prop. It will outlive any movie merchandise replica by decades.

Storage: Store in a dry environment. Avoid long-term storage in the leather scabbard. Display stand or wall mount recommended.

Rust spots: Light surface rust is normal on 5160 carbon steel and easily removed with very fine steel wool (#0000 grade) and a few drops of oil.

Sharpening: Use a quality whetstone (1000-grit working) at 22–25 degrees per side. Avoid power grinders, which can ruin the temper.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Sword of Boromir?

The Sword of Boromir is the Gondorian longsword wielded by Boromir, son of Denethor II and Captain of the White Tower of Gondor, in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy directed by Peter Jackson (2001–2003). It's a straight, double-edged blade in the classic Numenorean and Gondorian warrior tradition. Boromir uses it throughout the films — including at the Mines of Moria and his final stand at Amon Hen, where he defends Merry and Pippin against the Uruk-hai.

Is this an officially licensed Lord of the Rings replica?

No. This is an unofficial, hand-forged tribute / fan creation inspired by the Sword of Boromir as depicted in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. It is not licensed by New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Entertainment, the J.R.R. Tolkien Estate, or any rights holder of the Lord of the Rings franchise.

What's the name of Boromir's sword?

In Tolkien's books and the films, Boromir's sword is not given a specific name — unlike Aragorn's sword (Anduril, Narsil reforged) or Frodo's dagger (Sting). It's referred to simply as "Boromir's sword" or "the Sword of Boromir". Stylistically it's a Gondorian longsword in the Numenorean tradition, made for the disciplined infantry combat practiced by the descendants of Numenor.

What blade length should I order?

The default 22-inch blade is the most balanced choice — matching the on-screen Sword of Boromir proportions. 18-inch (-$25) for compact display or shorter cosplay. 20-inch (-$15) for more compact one-handed use. 24-inch (+$35) or longer for collectors who want more presence. 28-inch (+$55) approaches longsword proportions — impressive for display and matches the Gondorian sword tradition for taller wielders.

Is the Sword of Boromir sharpened?

Yes. Forged from 5160 high carbon spring steel, water-tempered, full-tang, and sharpened on both edges. For cosplay, convention display, or stage combat where blunt blades are required, request a blunt training-edge version at no extra charge.

Is this safe for cosplay conventions?

Convention rules vary. Many require live steel weapons to be peace-bonded into the scabbard, or require blunt-edge versions. Request our blunt training-edge version at no extra charge for cosplay use. Always check your specific convention's weapons policy — some larger conventions ban functional metal weapons entirely.

Can I get the Sword of Boromir AND the Dagger of Boromir as a set?

Yes — we offer both pieces individually so you can order them as a complete loadout. The Dagger of Boromir is a 13-inch hand-forged sidearm in matching 5160 spring steel. Together, the sword and dagger recreate Boromir's complete warrior gear from the Fellowship of the Ring. Both are independently customisable.

How heavy is this sword? Can I wield it one-handed?

The standard 22-inch blade weighs approximately 904 grams (2.0 lb). The 8-inch handle supports both one-handed and two-handed grip — a hand-and-a-half ("bastard sword") configuration which matches the historical Gondorian / Numenorean tradition. Comfortable for sustained use in either grip style.

What other LOTR swords do you offer?

Our LOTR collection includes the Dagger of Boromir, Boromir-Inspired Gondor Longsword (premium tier), Pippin Sword (Barrow Blade), and Merry Sword (Barrow Blade). All are hand-forged in 5160 spring steel.

Can I add Tengwar (Elvish runes) engraving?

Yes — engraving is included free. Popular options include Tengwar runes (Elvish script), the white tree of Gondor, the seven stars of Elendil, your name in standard or Tengwar fonts, mottos from the films, or custom artwork. Upload your design in the customisation section. For premium gold-inlay engraving, see our Personalized Blades page.

How does this compare to other Boromir sword replicas?

Most Boromir sword replicas online are mass-produced stainless steel decoration with cast handles — manufactured under licensing deals to be wall-hangers. Our hand-forged version is real 5160 spring steel, water-tempered, full-tang, with rosewood and leather fittings. Different price point, fundamentally different product. Built to outlive any movie merchandise replica.

Will I have to pay customs duties?

International orders may incur customs duties, VAT, GST, or import taxes charged by your country's customs authority on arrival. These are paid directly by you on delivery, not included in the order total.

How long until I receive my order?

Total typical timeline 8–15 business days. Forging and finishing in our Kathmandu workshop takes 3–5 business days. DHL Express or FedEx International delivery takes another 5–10 business days. Custom configurations may take longer.

Do you ship Boromir swords to my country?

We ship to most countries worldwide via DHL Express and FedEx International. Some countries restrict the import of swords, including Australia, the UK, and parts of the EU. Contact us if unsure about your country's import laws before ordering.
