Blade Finishes

Blade Finishes – Choose the Right Look and Feel for Your Forged Blade

At Everest Forge, each blade is hand-forged with care — and how it’s finished matters just as much as how it’s forged. Blade finishes not only affect the blade’s appearance but also its resistance to wear, reflection, and corrosion. Below are the four primary finish options we offer.

Satin Finish

A smooth, semi-polished finish with a soft matte sheen. Satin-finished blades are lightly buffed to reduce glare while still showcasing the steel’s grain and craftsmanship. This is a popular choice for practical users who want a clean, refined look without full reflectivity.

Polished (Mirror) Finish

A high-gloss, reflective finish achieved through extensive polishing. This mirror polish enhances the blade’s aesthetics and provides some resistance to rust. Ideal for collectors and ceremonial pieces, polished blades highlight every curve and bevel of the design.

Black (Coated) Finish

A tactical black finish applied for stealth and corrosion resistance. Often favored by military, tactical, and survival users, black finishes reduce reflection and give the blade a modern, aggressive appearance. Depending on the blade, this may be a chemical or forged oxide coating.

Raw Forged Finish

A rugged, unpolished finish that retains the natural forge marks and scale from the forging process. This is a favorite among bushcraft users and enthusiasts who value raw craftsmanship and authenticity. Each raw forged blade tells its own story through hammer marks and heat textures.
