Afghan Issue Kukri – Full Tang Combat Knife

The Afghan Issue Kukri is the current official kukri issued to Gurkha soldiers deployed in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom (AEOF). Specially designed to suit the harsh desert environment, this kukri features an 11-inch semi-polished blade made from highly graded carbon steel (5160 or car spring steel) with a double fuller (Chirra) design for extra strength and balance. The full tang construction, ergonomic finger-grip handle, and sturdy scabbard make it an exceptional tool for both combat and heavy-duty utility tasks like chopping wood, cutting bone, or clearing bushes.

Features

  • Hand-forged from highly graded 5160 carbon steel with double fuller (Chirra) design.
  • Full tang blade with extended tang and lanyard hole for extra strength and security.
  • Ergonomically designed 5.5-inch rosewood handle with finger grips.
  • Comes with a cotton-wood scabbard wrapped in natural white buffalo leather, leather loop, two frogs, and lanyard string.

Historical Significance

Since the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom, Gurkhas stationed in Afghanistan have carried this specifically developed kukri. The Afghan Issue Kukri is a modern evolution in the Gurkha blade lineage, crafted to withstand the demanding conditions of desert warfare while maintaining traditional strength and reliability.
