Hellboy II Khopesh Sword — 19-Inch Hand-Forged Egyptian Blade with Prince Nuada-Inspired Handle
The Everest Forge Hellboy II Khopesh Sword is a one-of-a-kind hand-forged fusion weapon — an ancient Egyptian khopesh blade paired with a Prince Nuada-inspired ornate gold-tone handle from Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Hand-forged in Kathmandu from 5160 high carbon spring steel (recycled truck leaf-spring stock), water-tempered, full-tang construction. 19-inch forward-curving khopesh blade, 10-inch rosewood handle with decorative gold-tone metal collar and engraved brass fittings (matching the Bethmoora-clan aesthetic), and handcrafted leather scabbard. Total length 29 inches, weight 1100 grams.
This is a limited collector's edition — you won't find this hybrid weapon anywhere else. The khopesh blade dates back 3,500 years to ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, where pharaohs and Sumerian warriors wielded it as the dominant battlefield weapon. The handle pays direct tribute to Prince Nuada Silverlance's iconic weapons in Hellboy II — same ornate gold-tone collar, same hand-engraved brass motifs, same regal Bethmoora aesthetic. The result: a weapon that looks like it could have been forged for an ancient elven-pharaoh warlord. Perfect for Hellboy collectors, fantasy weapon enthusiasts, and Egyptian khopesh fans alike.
Note: The Hellboy-inspired handle design is an unofficial, hand-forged tribute / fan creation. Slight variations in weight, dimensions, or finish may occur due to the handmade nature of the item. Each piece is individually hand-forged. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Universal Pictures, Dark Horse Comics, or any rights holder of the Hellboy franchise.

Look around online and you'll find two types of khopesh sword for sale:
Type 1: Cheap Egyptian khopesh decorations. Mass-produced stainless steel, plastic-style handle, $40–$100. Look like costume props. No Hellboy connection. Stamped, not forged.
Type 2: Mass-produced Hellboy II Golden Army Sword replicas. Master Cutlery sells one ($74), but it's stainless steel, cast handle, no Egyptian khopesh DNA, no customisation.
Type 3 (this one): A genuine hand-forged hybrid that combines the most feared blade of ancient Egypt with the ornate Bethmoora-clan handle aesthetic from Hellboy II. This is the only one of its kind anywhere. Forged by Nepalese master smiths from the Sunar family, made-to-order, fully customisable, real spring steel, real rosewood, real engraved brass.
Real Hand Forging
Heated in coal forge, hammered on the anvil by Nepalese master smiths — not stamped from a sheet.

The Egyptian Khopesh — History of One of Humanity's Oldest Swords
The khopesh (also spelled khepesh, kopesh, or sappara) is one of the oldest swords in human history, originating in Sumerian Mesopotamia around 2500 BCE and spreading throughout ancient Egypt by the New Kingdom era (1550–1070 BCE). Its distinctive forward-curving sickle-like profile made it devastating in close combat — the curve concentrated cutting force and could hook around enemy shields to disarm or wound opponents.
Pharaohs of the New Kingdom — including Tutankhamun, whose tomb contained two ceremonial khopesh swords — carried them as symbols of military authority and divine kingship. The khopesh appears throughout Egyptian art: gods Set, Anubis, and Horus are all depicted wielding khopesh blades. The weapon was so culturally important that the hieroglyph for "sword" itself was a stylised khopesh.
By combining this 3,500-year-old battlefield design with the ornate fantasy aesthetic of Hellboy II's Bethmoora Clan, our hand-forged khopesh creates something unique: a weapon that connects ancient pharaohs to modern fantasy. It's not just a movie replica or just an Egyptian replica — it's a fusion that respects both traditions.
The Prince Nuada Connection — Hellboy II Design Language
If you've seen Hellboy II: The Golden Army, you'll recognise this handle design instantly. Director Guillermo del Toro's design team created a distinctive aesthetic for Prince Nuada Silverlance and his Bethmoora Clan: ornate gold-tone metal collars, hand-engraved geometric motifs, leather-wrapped grips, and decorative pommels that suggest ancient elven royalty.
Our Khopesh handle pays direct tribute to this design language. The gold-tone metal collar, the engraved patterns, the leather wrap, the decorative band — all evoke Prince Nuada's signature weapon style. Mount this khopesh next to our hand-forged Prince Nuada's Spear, Hellboy II Golden Army Sword, and Nuada Sirupate Kukri and you'll see they form a unified collection — the kind of arsenal a Bethmoora warlord might actually carry.

Care & Maintenance
After every use: Wipe the blade clean and dry. Apply a thin coat of light oil (mineral oil, camellia oil, or 3-in-1 oil).
Storage: Store in a dry environment. Avoid long-term storage in the leather scabbard. Display stand or wall mount recommended.
Rust spots: Light surface rust is normal on 5160 carbon steel and easily removed with very fine steel wool (#0000 grade) and a few drops of oil.
Sharpening: Use a quality whetstone (1000-grit working) at 22–25 degrees per side. Avoid power grinders, which can ruin the temper.
Brass & gold-tone fittings: Polish occasionally with a soft dry cloth (no abrasives or chemicals). Light tarnish on brass adds character — if removal preferred, use a brass-specific polish.

What makes this khopesh different from other Egyptian khopesh swords?
Two things. First, it's hand-forged from real 5160 spring steel rather than mass-produced stainless steel decoration. Second, the handle features a Hellboy II Prince Nuada / Bethmoora-clan-inspired design with ornate gold-tone metal collar and hand-engraved brass fittings — a unique fantasy-meets-history hybrid you won't find anywhere else. Most khopesh replicas use generic Egyptian or wooden handles. This one is a one-of-a-kind crossover piece.
Is this an officially licensed Hellboy II replica?
No. The Hellboy-inspired handle design is an unofficial, hand-forged tribute / fan creation inspired by Prince Nuada's weapons in Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008). It is not licensed by Universal Pictures, Dark Horse Comics, Guillermo del Toro, or any rights holder of the Hellboy franchise. The Egyptian khopesh blade itself is a historical reproduction.
What is a khopesh sword?
A khopesh (also spelled khepesh or kopesh) is an ancient Egyptian forward-curving single-edge sword that originated in Sumerian Mesopotamia around 2500 BCE and was used throughout the New Kingdom of Egypt (1550–1070 BCE). Pharaohs including Tutankhamun carried khopesh swords, and they're depicted in Egyptian art being wielded by gods like Set and Anubis. The forward curve made them devastating in close combat for slashing and hooking around shields.
Is the khopesh blade historically accurate?
Yes — the 19-inch blade matches the typical New Kingdom Egyptian khopesh blade length. The forward-curving sickle-like profile is faithful to historical examples found in tombs and depicted in temple reliefs. The handle is fantasy-themed (Hellboy II inspired) rather than historical, but the blade itself is an accurate khopesh reproduction.
Can I get this khopesh engraved with hieroglyphics?
Yes — engraving is included free. Popular options include cartouche-style hieroglyphic name engravings, Egyptian symbols (ankh, eye of Horus, scarab), Bethmoora-clan-style elven runes, your name in standard or stylised fonts, or custom artwork. For premium gold-inlay hieroglyphic engraving, see our Personalized Blades page.
Is the khopesh sharpened?
Yes. Forged from 5160 high carbon spring steel, water-tempered, full-tang, and sharpened to a working edge. For cosplay, convention display, or stage combat where blunt blades are required, request a blunt training-edge version at no extra charge.
Is this khopesh safe for cosplay conventions?
Convention rules vary. Many require live steel weapons to be peace-bonded into the scabbard, or require blunt-edge versions. Request our blunt training-edge version at no extra charge for cosplay use. Always check your specific convention's weapons policy — some larger conventions ban functional metal weapons entirely.
How heavy is this sword? Can I wield it one-handed?
The total weight is approximately 1100 grams (1.1 kg / 2.4 lb). The 10-inch handle supports comfortable one-handed use, but the forward-weighted khopesh blade design means you'll feel the weight at the curve. Many users prefer two-handed grip for sustained use or display purposes. The historical Egyptian khopesh was used both one and two-handed depending on the wielder's strength.
How does this match the rest of my Hellboy II collection?
Beautifully. The handle features the same ornate gold-tone metal collar, engraved brass fittings, and leather wrap as our Prince Nuada's Spear, Hellboy II Golden Army Sword, and Nuada Sirupate Kukri. Together they form a unified Bethmoora-themed collection — the only matched hand-forged Hellboy II set on Earth.
Will I have to pay customs duties?
International orders may incur customs duties, VAT, GST, or import taxes charged by your country's customs authority on arrival. These are paid directly by you on delivery, not included in the order total.
How long until I receive my order?
Total typical timeline 8–15 business days. Forging and finishing in our Kathmandu workshop takes 3–5 business days. DHL Express or FedEx International delivery takes another 5–10 business days. Custom configurations may take longer.
Do you ship khopesh swords to my country?
We ship to most countries worldwide via DHL Express and FedEx International. Some countries restrict the import of swords, including Australia, the UK, and parts of the EU. Contact us if unsure about your country's import laws before ordering.
