Banspate Khukuri | Bamboo Leaf Style Traditional Kukri from Eastern Nepal

Banspate Khukuri/Kukri – Bamboo Leaf Blade Style from Eastern Nepal

Banspate Khukuri with bamboo leaf shaped blade and horn handle

The Banspate Khukuri is a rare and elegant traditional kukri design from Eastern Nepal, inspired by the natural curve of the bamboo leaf—known as “Bans Paat” in Nepali. With its unique 14-inch blade that swells in the belly and tapers toward the tip, this kukri offers both beauty and functionality in one timeless form. Historically forged in the hills of eastern Nepal, the Banspate represents a regionally significant style not often seen outside local communities.

Light, well-balanced, and practical, the Banspate Kukri was traditionally used by villagers for everything from cutting bamboo and clearing brush to ceremonial uses and protection in the wild. Its leaf-like shape allows smooth slicing and powerful cutting while maintaining agility and control in the user’s hand.

This 14-inch blade is hand-forged from 5160 high carbon steel and water-tempered to ensure edge strength and durability. The 6-inch handle is carved from polished buffalo horn for a natural grip and classic look. It comes housed in a traditional black buffalo leather scabbard wrapped over wood and includes both Karda (small utility knife) and Chakmak (sharpening tool).
