Large Dao Sword | Hand Forged Chinese War Saber

Bold, powerful, and historically rooted, the Large Dao Sword is a two-handed saber inspired by traditional Chinese military blades. With its broad, curved profile and battle-ready construction, this hand-forged weapon is designed for serious martial application, cutting strength, and collection value. Crafted by Everest Forge in Nepal, this Dao reflects centuries of warrior heritage in a sword that is both beautiful and brutally effective.

The 24-inch blade is forged from 5160 carbon steel, traditionally sourced from truck leaf springs, and water-tempered along the edge for superior durability and cutting power. The sword is constructed with a robust full tang, peened to a solid pommel, and completed with a wood grip wrapped in tightly stitched leather for secure two-handed handling. Whether you're a martial artist, reenactor, or collector of historical weapons, this large Dao is a formidable and elegant piece.

Historical Background

The Dao (刀) has long been referred to as the “General of All Weapons” in Chinese martial tradition. Used extensively from the Han Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, the Dao evolved in size and shape to suit both cavalry and infantry combat. This larger, two-handed version of the Dao echoes the style of military war sabers seen during the Ming and Qing periods—designed for slashing in formation or from horseback.

Featuring a wide cutting surface and a curved blade, the Dao was capable of delivering devastating cuts while being lighter and more maneuverable than many double-edged swords. The Dao's versatility and lethal efficiency made it the backbone of the Chinese arsenal, and it remains one of the most studied swords in Chinese martial arts today.
