ChainPure Kukri/Khukuri – 10-Inch Traditional Lightweight Domestic Blade from Chainpur, Nepal
The ChainPure Kukri (also spelled Khukuri) is a lightweight, highly functional blade originating from the village of Chainpur in eastern Nepal. Designed for daily domestic and field use, this kukri has been a trusted companion of rural farmers, herders, and households for generations. Its slim profile and lighter weight make it exceptionally easy to carry, quick to maneuver, and ideal for day-to-day tasks like chopping, slicing, peeling, and general household cutting needs.
Built with mobility in mind, this kukri suits the lifestyle of those who carry heavy loads or cover long distances on foot. Unlike heavier utility khukuris, the ChainPure prioritizes speed and comfort without sacrificing cutting ability. Despite its light frame, it remains an effective survival tool and self-defense weapon for those living in isolated or mountainous regions.
The 10-inch blade is hand-forged from high carbon steel and features a distinctive upward taper and a sharp point to match the kukri's slender silhouette. It includes decorative spine patterning and a modified notch known for its symbolic shape—resembling a cow's hoof. In Nepali tradition, the hoof represents good luck, prosperity, and fertility, and when the blade is held upright, it echoes the sacred “OM” symbol associated with Lord Shiva. Just before the notch, a small raised nozzle functions as a blood dripper.
Equally unique is the rosewood handle. Shaped with flared sides at the base and carved contours for grip comfort, it offers excellent control during prolonged work. The tang is secured with an ace-shaped keeper at the butt, giving the handle a bold, distinctive finish. The scabbard is crafted from cottonwood and wrapped in hand-stitched water buffalo leather for lasting durability and traditional aesthetics.
