Single-Edge Viking Sword | Hand Forged Norse Langseax by Everest Forge
Powerful, practical, and rooted in Viking-age tradition, this Single-Edge Viking Sword is a modern recreation of the long-bladed Norse Langseax, also known as the Viking seax or war knife. Designed for both slashing and thrusting, this hand-forged weapon captures the brutal efficiency of early medieval warfare, blending historical styling with rugged functionality.
Crafted by master bladesmiths at Everest Forge in Nepal, the sword features a 26-inch single-edged blade made from 5160 high-carbon spring steel (truck leaf spring). The edge is water-tempered and polished for strength, durability, and battle-ready sharpness. A full tang rosewood handle offers a strong, comfortable grip, and the sword comes complete with a traditional leather scabbard for carry and protection.
Historical Background
The Langseax was a favored weapon among Vikings and Germanic tribes during the early medieval period. Longer than a typical seax knife but shorter than most swords, the langseax occupied a unique space in the Norse arsenal. It was often worn horizontally across the back or belt and used in both everyday life and combat.
Its single-edge design allowed for powerful slicing strikes while remaining easier to forge and maintain than double-edged blades. While Viking swords are often depicted as double-edged, archaeological finds reveal that single-edged Viking blades were also common, particularly among the warrior class who preferred lighter, faster, and more affordable weapons.
