Historical Background

The Dao (刀), often referred to as the “Chinese saber”, was a standard-issue weapon for infantry and cavalry from the Han Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty. Unlike straight double-edged swords, the Dao's curved, single edge made it ideal for slicing and slashing, especially from horseback.
