The MK 1 Kukri was the first of the five Kukri models that were officially approved, designed, issued and numbered during the 20th century, by the Indian Military (and probably Ministry of Defense). Among collectors and researcher these knifes are called Official Standard Pattern Kukri knifes and follow the British Military system of being labeled “Mark,” abbreviated “MK”. The MK1 was produced from around 1903 till 1915 in Colonial India. It is a unique Kukri with a rich history and was issued to Gurkha and other troops of the Indian Army during the early 20th century.
